Perhaps that is possible, but then perhaps that was many years ago and our graphics hardware and software may have since solved that laggyness

Re: Viewing 3D Objects in Unlocked Courses...
Here's my problem. I have Windows 10 and cannot get the library merge feature to work. The course I'm working on was using a merged library. I have used Links Extender to extract all the objects from the course thinking I would be able to import the V1 objects individually but the problem is that when I try, the APCD assigns it's own object name (ie ballwash006 is changed to ballwash018) and I can't override it so the V1 object in the library now has a different name than the same object already planted on the course which is causing all kinds of headaches.

Re: Viewing 3D Objects in Unlocked Courses...
Again, I dont think you will be able to add the objects into APCD and make APCD think the old objects now operate under the settings of the new added clone of the object. If your old objects have incorrect properties (other than size and placement on the course) and you have no way of recovering the particular APCD folder you used in the past, Im afraid your only options are to delete and replant them, or else accept the fact that their settings are messed up. I could be wrong, but I highly doubt it. The name of the new object within APCD will always be set to the lowest not-used number in line for the chosen object type.
Edit: To clarify - What I say only applies to objects that were custom objects in the first place. If they were APCD stock objects it would likely not be any trouble if putting the same one in a planting set again

Re: Viewing 3D Objects in Unlocked Courses...
One problem that can mess up a planting set is when after you've already built a planting set you later decide to add more objects of the same type to it. By same "type" I'm referring to the objects category names, such as "Trees, Bushes, Tall Trees, Pine Trees, Ball Washers" etc etc... It has to do with the way the objects are sorted. I'll try to explain.sodbuster wrote: ↑March 14th, 2020, 9:26 pm Here's my problem. I have Windows 10 and cannot get the library merge feature to work. I'll lay out a simple scenario here in an effort to make my point. Lets say that you built your own planting set. You start by creating a NEW one, which is empty. Now you start browsing through your Object Library to choose which objects you want to add to your planting set. Let's use bush's as an example. You began browsing through the various bushes and picking some randomly. You might pick out bush 001, 002, 003, 006, 007, 009, 010. Now you continue on adding additional object types until you are happy with your planting set. Now you save it and start using it.
Later on you have second thoughts and decide that you want to add bush's 004 and 005 to your planting set. You go back to your object library, select bushes, highlight 004 and 005, and add them to your planting set. Right there is where you make a mistake.
The problem is that the APCD doesn't know how to automatically sort the file names and numbers in the planting set. It adds them to the BOTTOM of the bush's list, below bush 010, and out of numerical sequence. Originally your highest bush was 010 and was at the bottom, but now 004 and 005 are below it.
This is what will screw up a planting set. You can't go back later and add more objects to an object type UNLESS their numbers are HIGHER than the highest one showing in your planting set list.
A believe a similar thing happens when you "import" files from other peoples courses. I suspect some of the object names and numbers might match some that are already in your planting set, and it creates a clash internally, which I believe corrupts some of the 2D objects. I believe this is why you see some objects change to different objects when you back away from them. A wastebasket might change to a rosebush, or something like that. I believe during the import that 2 different images get mixed together in the APCD because they both have the same object name and number. Or at least that's what seems to make the most sense.
Sounds like you need a new planting set.

Re: Viewing 3D Objects in Unlocked Courses...
Let me float this idea...I have an older PC that I can install an earlier Windows version on and try to run the library merge procedure on it. It seems to me that if I can get a merged library I can recreate the original plant set, avoiding a total replanting nightmare. Do you guys think that might work?
Re: Viewing 3D Objects in Unlocked Courses...
For objects that were inside the 2001 (or 2003) APCD stock library yes probably, but there is no reason to merge it yourself, you can just use one of the APCD versions that I and Dan uploaded. They are already merged.

When using one of those APCDs, add the objects in question to a planting set (while keeping Dan's recommendations in his last post above in mind!). Or make a fresh planting set of your own from scratch. If that still doesnt work there is probably nothing that will.

Well of course it is. Not only did I manage to hijack this thread but I'm also dumber than a box of rocks!
Thanks all.
Thanks all.
Re: Viewing 3D Objects in Unlocked Courses...
Hi Adelade... Just wanted to let you and the others know that, the only reason I sent my version in was because you said you had made some changes to yours after I sent it to you, and my version is still untouched. I wasn't exactly sure what changes you had made, so I figured I'd just post the original unchanged version.Adelade wrote: ↑March 15th, 2020, 4:01 pm For objects that were inside the 2001 (or 2003) APCD stock library yes probably, but there is no reason to merge it yourself, you can just use one of the APCD versions that I and Dan uploaded.
