Within Links' graphics settings, where do you have the "Picture quality" slider? I think the 2-3 steps furthest to the left turn off water reflections, although as I recall, the water then tended to look darker then than in your screenshot...
Main Courses made: Amedal (fict), Nine Bridges (real)
Other: Austin, Sheshan, Kauri Cliffs, Le Golf, Shadow Creek Updates: Whirlpool, Royal Lytham, Royal St George's, Chicago, Chambers Bay, Munchen Nord E
Working on: 2 fict courses + some things...

With 2.86 I am not surprised you are having a problem with reflective water. I have tested many versions of dgVoodoo and most of the later ones exhibit this problem.

I have referred it to the developer but he only has the trial version of Links and Skelton Coast does not show the problem.

So with dgVoodoo it is best to start with a known working version. The version pointed to on this forum is a good place to start.

This is version 2.7, there are later versions that work, but they do not perform any better and many versions are getting hard to find. If anything I think version 2.55 may offer a bit better performance, but is hard to find.

Older versions have been removed from dege's page.

Andy keeps a copy of 2.7, the pointer is in the first post of the following topic here at Links Corner:

FWIW The oldest version I have found that works is 2.55, the newest is 2.81.3.

It takes quite a bit of searching to find older versions of dgVoodoo now. None of the other versions I have tried works any better with Links than the version Andy has posted. FWIW the pointer I posted is to the Second sticky topic in the Tech Corner forum "Links 2003 w/ Intel-Only Graphics or Intel + Nvidia Graphics - Solution Found"

I posted a problem on the dgVoodoo forum about the later versions and water rendering, Dege only has access to the Links Demo, alas the course used there does not display any water problems.

Note that I am finding a few courses that I am having problems with on Windows, I have tried many things but no solution as yet.

For information the symptom is Links hangs, what was a full screen goes to a black window with borders, the only way out it to terminate links, trying to use the saved state on a restart just results in another crash.
