What Version is Links_Download

Can anyone confirm what version is installed when the download version of Links is installed? Is it 1.07 and does it include the final 1.07 patch? I've always assumed I need to install the 107_Final patch with both the download install route and the disks install route.

Finally what does the Nvidia patch actually do?

I have CD Versions so I cannot be absolutely sure about the download version but I was thinking it includes the 1.07 update but not the Nvidia patch. Perhaps someone with the download kit can verify what it is.

I have some notes on so called the "Nvidia" patch, I'll include it here "as is" -

This patch was primarily intended for the Windows 7 nVidia crashing problem. nVidia have changed the way something works and it needed a change in the exe to use the driver differently. However, it could also help with other video cards if you're crashing during rendering. It doesn't change the version number of the game, doesn't change recorded games, multiplayer, etc. It just fixes that crash.

In other instances it was also found out why some courses crash and some don't. They were crashing when trying to render water reflections. This fix is also included.

A small change has also been made to the display setting screen so it will show more and larger resolutions. There was a problem in Links with video cards with a large amount of memory. It was incorrectly getting the video memory size so Links didn't think you had enough video memory for the larger size resolutions. It was also found out that it only grabs the first 16 screen modes including 640x480 which would leave out a few of the very large modes. So the minimum screen size is now 800x600.


So while it is called the Nvidia patch according to my notes it addresses other issues as well. I've found it should be installed after the 1.07 update, it was certainly released later than 1.07.
