Colin,
You are, of course, 100% correct. In fact, when I reached the 18 green the flags at the clubhouse were blowing in the correct direction - from my position.
(I was only thinking of the helicopter pilots. )

Colin,

A superb rendition, definitely worth the wait.

The clubhouse is well done and I can see a great deal of attention to detail throughout the course, the sandy scrub works well and is so Australian.

It is quite a contrast to Royal Sydney and of course they are not that far from each other.

A great addition to the Links course library.

I have done one round so far on three different hardware configurations:

- Windows 11 with a Nvidia HBA
- Windows 11 with Intel Iris Xe GPU and the DDrawCompat wrapper
- Linux Mint 21.3 with Wine 10.

No problems playing the course on any of the machines, so I saw no system induced issues.

I sat down and walked the course, doing so I can really appreciate the work and the detailed attention that has gone into the rendition.

I noted the following in my wandering on the course.

1. The right hand side text on some of the hole previews has been cut off or is very close to being cut off. This is on holes 13, 14, 15, 16 17 & 18. In other words the last 6 holes.

2. On the back nine at times I see a line between the sky and the ocean.

3. It looks like some tee markers have been cut off at the back.

- Hole 6 Left hand middle tee marker
- Hole 7 Left & Right hand back tee markers
- Hole 10 Left & Right hand back tee markers
- Hole 11 Front tee markers
- Hole 16 Back and middle tee markers
- Hole 17 All three tee positions

All fairly minor things, as always up to the designer what happens.

Colin,
I decided to play another round with my analytical head on.

It's the simple things that please me about your rendition, things like when you show worn grass around the water fountain. Absolutely wonderful.

While playing the round looking for problems I was amazed that I found none.

I always play with the Top View camera open and I noticed something that looks to me a little unnatural. There is an edge to the scrub texture called Dirt, and once I noticed it I couldn't not see it. The texture Dirt looks like an edge, a kerb for want of a better description. I must add that this does not show in the normal play screen. (I wouldn't change anything.)

Sometimes when I test play a course I am rendering, I get frustrated when a Dynamic Camera with Smart View shows something that I can not understand, nor change. This also happened with my approach on the 18th. there was a square area of the fairway that had an incorrect mapping. I tried another 20 times to repeat the shot and not once did I replicate the outcome. This is what drives those of us who try to build anything in APCD to distraction. :wallbash:

Colin:

NSW club is one gorgeous piece of APCD work ! It's practically like a "master class" in natural and realistic looking planting. The textures and colors also bring out the "Aussie" style look to the course ( if there , indeed, is such a thing ). I very much enjoyed the two rounds I've played, and of course it will be added to my personal collection. Having said all of this, I DID notice one item that I'm not sure about. On the very first hole, using the second set of tees ( middle?) there is a bush just to the right that ( if it is on this side of the cart path ), appears to be "floating", if you will. At first I thought the bush was a bit on the cart path.....but if you rotate to the right a little, it doesn't look "grounded". That is the one and only issue I saw on an otherwise superbly rendered course. ( Sorry if I'm not seeing that correctly )

Thanks for the course ! :cheers1: :tiphat:
Ron

PS: Forgot to mention the excellent 3D clubhouse, and the inclusion of that offshore freighter seen on a few holes. Very nice touch of realism,
since the course probably isn't all that far from Sydney's massive port.

Loving the detail you guys are going to - thanks so much. I LOVE detail! I will act on all of it before releasing the final.

Ron - thank you very much - yep, the entry to Botany Bay port is "just around the corner". Here's a photo from the official site - that's how close these huge cargo ships get to the course. I actually toyed with the idea of planting that ship (the "Spirit of Sydney") much closer, just like in the image below. But I thought players would think it to be unrealistic to have it right in their face.

Ian - the course was built on sand dunes, so the outer rim to all of the scrubby areas is a sand waste texture. It can appear like a border or kerbing I know. I think up close because there is a lead-in "patchy rough"(dirt) texture, its pretty good. But overhead/far, maybe not so much. Loving that you made the effort to go deep with NSW. Honoured. I'll check out the other possible problems.

Des - thanks mate, Hey. forgot to ask you - is that your mulch texture that's in the AusPack? I think its from "dwg". Rotate on the first hole - it's used for the Australian Native Trees that are planted near the tee box.

Colin,

Mulch? No I do not recall ever providing any, I did provide some sand ones to Noel though.

The Port Botany container terminal is not far from NSW as you indicated and the Sydney Airport runway extends into Botany Bay.

There is a concentration of golf courses near NSW along the coastline with NSW being the most southerly of the courses.
