Guys,

If I run Links Extender on the course and save it, should the course then load in Links or is more necessary?

It gets stuck at 20% loaded.

Hey dwg,
What I did was save it in Links Extender V2. Then open it in APCD and do a Validate/save. Then open in it in the game.

That works for me................

Thanks Sage, thought I must have left something out.

Mind you I can get APCD to load the original file, but after saving a copy with Links Extender and trying to load it APCD hangs.

I think APCD knows my opinion of the software :)

No drama I was just doing it as a test to see how it all worked.

dwg, I think everyone's comp is different in certain ways that makes standard stuff and everything else in APCD and Links 2003 act differently.

I decided to try it on my Windows desktop, Same problem it gets to "Loading Triangle" being displayed in the status bar and there it just sits.

In Links Extender I assume you are just loading the file then immediately saving it to another name. That is all I did. I change the version number to 0.1

Out of interest I tried loading this saved file into Links Extender again, should not be a problem it has created it, nope says it is a locked file and asks for the password

I'm curious as to what is going on.

Looks like I have it working, I'm not good at giving up.

I have loaded it in Links, and started a round, have not completed one yet.

What I did was:

1. Load downloaded course in APCD (Size 524 441 491)
2. V & S. - that dropped the size of the course marginally (Size 524 137 802)
3. Load course in Links Extender
4. Save the course - Dramatic reduction in size (Size 77 910 882)
5. Load course in APCD
6. Do a V & S - slight increase in course size. (Size 78 305 880)
7. Course loads and creates shadow file in Links I'm on the first tee.

While I haven't got the fastest machine around, I have not got the slowest either, V & S sure takes some time and you would not necessarily know it is doing something. How was it in the day?

FWIW I did this on a Gen 11 i5 16GB memory Windows 11.

No problem in playing a round.

It is an interesting course, I like the fairway texture. There is certainly no shortage of sand :)
