Brandywine wrote: August 27th, 2024, 5:19 pm I've played four Mike Stranz designed courses (This one, Stonehouse, Royal New Kent, and Tobacco Road), and he generally GIVES you the fairway; they're expansive to say the least, putting a premium on approach shot making. The real course defense are the severely undulating greens. You got Tobacco Road pretty accurate, but the greens on this course are quite tame by comparison.

(... switching to another post dated September 2021 about Kinloch Golf Club) ...I decided to revisit it and possibly release it Spring 2022, making it my 1st course for public consumption. I did notice that another member, PMGOLF, is working on it also. Not trying to step on anyone's toes, but I'm going to press ahead and hopefully produce something that can be enjoyed by all.
I did realize that you were stealing the course away from me, but I tried to be respectful and not raise the roof about it. I stopped working on it, abandoning the 1 1/2 years of working on it while I waited to see how well you did with it. Lo and behold, though, you gave up on it. I tried to get others to do the course but no one would because YOU said you were going to do it! So my work was wasted, your word proved to be nothing more than a pipe-dream, and no one has the course to play! And no one else will do the course because of the dispute you created by shamelessly claiming it for yourself!

How about being the bigger man and release your claims (?) to the course? You've played it, and you say you liked it - why in the world would you want to keep it from being developed for Links by someone else so others can enjoy it too?

Wow...where do I begin. I feel kind of weary having to respond to this nonsense, but here goes.

1.I've been ill for some time, and I prioritized my well-being ahead of a game, and quite frankly, didn't feel it necessary to tell the forum/group my personal medical business in any way/shape/form/fashion. Could I have communicated my decision to stop frequenting this site, and let everyone know I wouldn't be working on said course? Sure, but I didn't. It wasn't exactly the most important thing on my mind at the time.

2. I don't own the exclusive game developmental rights to ANY golf course on the planet. No one does. Therefore, you are free to create your own APCD golf course at your leisure independent of anything I do. Yes, I did say I wanted to finish Kinloch for public consumption, but I did not. It wasn't up to the high standards this group is known for, and then life happened. I didn't give up on it; merely postponed. Also, to this point, I did respond to an old message from Ian Wells today and let him know I might release the uncompleted course in the hope that I can get pointers on the technical issues that elude me or perhaps collaborate. Who knows. Just FYI, it's hella difficult to manipulate APCD using voice command software part of the time, thus the extreme amount of time it takes me to do anything.

3. To say I "stole" the course from you. Sigh...Grow up. It's not a competition. If I took your salty attitude, I should be equally upset at the guys who completed Tobacco Road and Ballyhack, two courses that I put a lot of work into, but didn't finish (maybe...2/3 completed on each). Oh well. No sour grapes here. They did outstanding work far superior than anything I could produce. I never looked upon it as a waste of my time, but rather a learning experience to make myself better at this. It's not that important. Surprisingly, it was time well spent.

4. Bottom line, there was no dispute except for the one you created in your own head. I would suggest in the future to "do you", meaning chart your own path regarding Links 2003 and APCD. It really isn't worth worrying about. Trying to guilt trip me over this is juvenile at best. Please, do better.

To the moderators, my apologies for having to deal with this in a public forum. It was never my intent to cause, real or imagined, any discourse here.

Sorry about your illness. Most all of us have suffered a health issue or two. Still, though, I have no respect for you. When someone declares that they are working on a course, it never has been an official, legal declaration. It's more of an honorable thing. Most people in my world can abide by a 'do unto others' philosophy. Others can't understand that. Unfortunately, all kinds of people make up this world.

View from 12th tee. There is a tee further back by about 10-20 yards. Check GE images.

Part of the problem, I think, is that in pmgolf's point of view, Brandywine started working on Kinloch after pmgolf had made it public that he was working on Kinloch, but Im pretty sure that wasnt the case since it sounded like Brandywine had been working on it for a long time when he first made the post about it. I understand how frustrating it might feel but no one stole any course from anyone... And to the point of designers saying they mean to make courses without having released them, if we were to throw rocks at every designer who have done that... there just might be zero - or close to zero - designers left without bruises, as Im sure you know Pete.
Finished Courses - Main: Amedal (fictional), Nine Bridges (real)
Other: Austin, Sheshan, Kauri Cliffs, Le Golf Nat. Updates: Whirlpool, Royal Lytham, Royal St George's, Chicago, Chambers Bay, Munchen Nord E
Working on: 2 fictional courses + a couple things...
