Years later Marinne Lepenne contemplates wishing she could do the same today. Bemoaning that they have turned the Gardens into a putting green the French as ever carry on playing boule. In Maxims Coco Chanel is dining alone watching Edith Piaf's final show accompanied by Onion Johnny Halliday. Maître'd Fred Siriex is running the show with his usual calm efficiency, wishing he was out at Les Sables D'olnne watching his daughter diving for France having quit the British Olympic team. In the vineyard Rene Lacoste has organised a battle of the sexes match between Andy Murray and his coach French Open champion Amilee Muresmo umpired by the fiery supermome John Macenroe.
