To get rid of galleries and tournament objects, you can take them out of play when you start your round. At the lower left corner of the page that includes tee and pin placement options there's an "Options" box. It defaults to "Show Tournament Objects" and "Show Galleries" but you can click either or both and you'll see an option to "Not Show" either or both. Most courses, other than regular tour courses or well-known ones that usually host majors won't need tour objects or crowds at all (but DON'T tell the designers-it'll be our little secret!)

There are some courses that have different pars for tournament play-those would need a "Tournament" course and, for want of a better term "members' course (St. George's and Glen Abbey come to mind). Thanks to Sage & Glenn who produced St. George's in record time...and Len, Matt & Glenn for Glen Abbey.

Yes, well I think we all know you can turn off the crowds. But that's not the point.

I'll explain - NSW sits in a protected national park. It will have alot of things that I want the players to see that are just not going to make any sense if you also have crowds - local marsupials, birds of prey, reptiles, other wildlife, etc. Even buggies "strategically strewn" about the course - just like it is when you play it IRL - which you also really can't have if you have crowds.

I feel like if I am going to add crowds I will need to get rid of the other stuff, just to keep it authentic.

It's entirely up to the course creator! At least that's my opinion. Suggestions are fine, but the person doing all the work should have final say. I'm perfectly fine with that, and I'm betting most others are too.

The course designer always has the final and casting vote in my opinion.

If I have a view I will put it forward and if needed explain or justify my position. It is still up to the designer whether to take it on board or not.

Hi Colin-I wasn't trying to be a smart-ass...as I recall you had some "wildlife issues" at Banff (just not as "wild" as NSW)!

Like I said-this isn't a smart-ass response and I'm not an APCD designer (and I don't play one on TV!) , but would this work...I see that NSW does host tournaments-are these major ones that would require regular tournament objects AND crowds? If not, could one of those categories be replaced with the "more natural" attractions that you mentioned...for example-replacing crowds with kangaroos or TV cameras with snakes or other things that are native to Australia? It would restrict the amount of tournament detail you have but from the sound of things it would be a good trade off. If you want to host a tournament perhaps just using crowds and keeping the snakes, etc. as the tournament objects would work. Normally I'd insert a punch line here but it's late so you do it.

As an aside-and while I was doing this comment-I know that the APCD allows for tournament objects and crowds for all its courses and by clicking "No" you shouldn't have to do a separate course (except for situations like I mentioned in my last post).

Does the "crowd" button actually require "people" or can it be used to promote other aspects of the course...like I think is the point here...the same goes for the "tournament objects". Are they specifically defined in APCD as "Tournament Objects"? As I said earlier, if the course you're working on doesn't host any tour events (and let's face it VERY few do) then there is no need to use the "Tournament" or "Crowd" options for their intended purposes if you think there's something more valuable that could be inserted.

Just don't forget the clubhouse!

Anyway, it's bedtime and all this curling kerfuffle at the Olympics has left me exhausted.
