I don't understand why the ball shoots out like you picked it when you clearly didn't go past the mark. Happens from time to time like it did on the 18th.dko wrote: ↑May 21st, 2026, 6:46 pmI assume you know the answer to the bunker question, but if not let me know.Pinseeker wrote: ↑May 21st, 2026, 5:45 pm Here's round 1 https://youtu.be/4fPm8inIUpM

Yeah I know the shot on hole 2 was my fault but it was the one on 18 that baffled me. So from what I understand there is a glitch where if the ball is plugged it will travel 2X the distance?

Yes, and always the case for greenside bunkers. It's a Links glitch. As Thomas said, you need to scale back the power of your swing. I usually use a lob wedge for the shot no matter the distance, then guess how hard to hit it and hope for the best.
For fairway bunkers, plugged lies behave as you'd expect.

I'm not sure how much of a bug there is here.
A buried bunker lie according to the info I have is expected to come out low and with no spin, hence is expected to run a lot further, perhaps 2x is a bit excessive though.
I never did much like bunker shots :)

Played windy, got a 67. Didn't get much from the par 5s but satisfied given how difficult the second shots were. Slower greens didn't bother me too much.
One more round and maybe I can catch Matty's 1st round score.

Re: Links PGA Tour 2026 - The CJ Cup Byron Nelson
Links continues to torment me :)
A round of 69.
Was hitting the ball reasonably well.
But again I was leaving some nasty side hill putts and in other cases leaving the ball short by a few inches.
The wind did play its part leaving me with quite a few chips, that part of my game has improved markedly since a change in technique, so that is a silver lining. A gust of wind caught the ball on 18 and resulted in it getting a wash, yet walked off the green with a par.
Again a case of what it could have been with a bit more going my way.
