It was interesting to revisit the courses as I hadn't played them since their release date. I normally only play the course while I do the testing prior to Beta release and, as such, my attention is on finding faults not enjoying a round of golf. Peachtree, Mountaintop, The Golf Club at Black Rock and Gozzer Ranch were never favorites of mine, but today I loved playing them even though my score for Peachtree was a disaster.
I believe that the reason they were not favorites of mine, was that the building of these courses had it's own difficulties:
- Peachtree cost so many hours with all the mappings associated with the making of the alternating rings around each green.
- Mountaintop was the first time I had used the DEM/LIDAR download from Linkster and as such had a time consuming learning curve.
- The Golf Club at Black Rock, the rocks and waterfalls took hours before I was willing to release the course, In addition it was my first attempt at making my own panorama, based on Google Earth screen shots. (Lining up the correct peaks with the correct holes took hours).
- Gozzer Ranch, making the panorama and trying to get the lake to look a little like water took hours and I didn't manage it!
These are the courses I played:
(I only played the TPC Sugarloaf Select eighteen. I can't believe that The Golf Club at Black Rock is so low in the rankings? )
Even though the courses pre-2025 still have faults, I was able to ignore them and enjoy the golf. Perhaps my days of designing are past and I can spend my time playing all the wonderful courses in the course database? We shall see?
I want to thank all the members over the last 7 years who have kindly given their time to give feedback on the above courses.
