Links is resizing everything else
Links is resizing everything else
My desktop resolution is 2560x1440, so obviously there is no way to play Links at that resolution, and I wouldn't want to, I prefer playing at 1280x720. But every time I open or close the game, all my apps such as Chrome, Outlook, Adobe Reader and even Windows Explorer are greatly reduced in size such that they have to be dragged to more fully open to be useful at all. I have tried overriding high dpi scaling behavior performed by both system and application.....no change. I even tried using the nVidia Control Panel to override the scaling mode set by games and programs....no change. Any idea of how I can stop Links from changing the resolution of everything else on my Win 10 pc running a 4GB GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gaming Graphics Card? Thanks

I've seen this on some of my abortive attempts to install Links 2003 on a new PC (specs listed below). But I'm curious as to whether you actually have Links 2003 now up and running.
I'd be happy to have your problem if I could only install Links 2003 (difficult enough) and then to run it in a stable condition in either Windows 11 or Windows 10 (impossible ATM).
If you have got Links2003 running in a stable condition I'd be happy to try what you have done

Re: Links is resizing everything else
As with a lot of things computer related I think it will come down to trial and error and trying various settings to get the best possible outcome. This is takIng Links away from how it was intended to run originally and even the extended modes implemented in 1.07 so having some problems is probably of little surprise.
I have one machine with a native resolution of 1366 x 768 and there is absolutely no way Links will run properly at that on the machine and that is a resolution provided in 1.07. I ended up running it at 1280 x 720 with scaling which works fine in itself, yet when I exit Links, desktop icons at the bottom of the screen are cut off. It is something I live with, it is not worth me forcing a desktop reset i.e restarting Explorer on Windows.
As you want to run Links at 1280 x 720 i.e. Mode 5 I would try setting Links up to run that windowed and see how well that works, I would also be inclined to try mode 14 the same way. There really are limited settings in Links that can be set. Like I said it is trial and error, you can get to be quite good at changing registry settings for Links. You could also try restarting Explorer after you exit Links to see if that corrects the issue.

Re: Links is resizing everything else
Of small convenience I have found that if Links remains on my taskbar after playing and I have resized everything that needs it, I can then exit Links without bringing it up (necessitating another resizing of everything else) by End Tasking it from Task Manager. I suspect everyone knows that right clicking the Links icon on the task bar and left clicking Close Window brings up the game (full screen in my case), and you then have to click the Exit button in the game (which causes me to find everything down-sized again).
