Hi Gene-If you missed Sunday, then I suggest that you try to see the hi-lites on Youtube. The "Lone Cyprus" came into play. I won't say anything else!

I watched some of early rounds at Pebble and I do believe there is just the one lone tree now instead of the 2 as shown in a picture that gave a link indicating 2. In 2004 version they are out 275 and 285 yards from the back tee.
You're right, Gene. I just did a little digging and found out that one of the trees on the 18th fairway was toppled by wind in a storm in December of 2014 which would have made both around 10 years old. It looks like, in this case, the strongest and healthiest survived.

I also caught a few articles on what needed to be accomplished in order to transplant the greenside Cypress on the 18th. Very interesting reading.

By the way, the Lone Cypress is north of Pebble Beach alongside 17 Mile Drive next to a huge turnout. It's quite the protected tree with bricks and mortar and cement shoring up the footing against the ocean.

Tree near 18th green was relocated in 2002.

Pebble Beach's logo is the lone cypress. It is projected as being 250 years old no where near what sequoia trees also in California live to being.

Here's a picture that I took of the tree in the early 90's or so. Pebble Beach is around the bend to the left and Cypress Point is behind me.

It's just that on the real course there's only a single tree.
Those were the pre-cut pick days!😉
I’m pretty sure I built the 3D for Chuck! I just can’t remember. I think I built the clubhouse does someone have a picture of it to remind me?

Cheers

Here you go, Pat! Do you recognize this little building?

Wow!! There it is. Sadly I see a few texture shadows and bit annoying the clubhouse is on the dark side of the moon otherwise it’d look way brighter. But I’m pretty proud of that build it was extremely complex to do. Took me quite a while.

regarding course access, someone needs to try this and report back! About 20 years ago I was in the city of Carmel. The wife and I walked out onto Carmel Beach, started to walk down the coastline, and then I realized there was something interesting up on the bluff above me. I scurried up a little path and poked my head up, and behold, the 10th green at Pebble Beach! Nobody was playing, the course was shut down in preparation for the upcoming annual Pro-Am. A few people were on the course walking around, but otherwise it was completely empty. The wife and I walked up and down 8,9 & 10. Got a picture of me holding the pin on #8 green, and finally just sat down on the 10th fairway and watched the sunset. Pretty cool experience.
