Seam Blends

Hello designers,

I recently had some problems with creating a seam blend texture.
The Problem is that I create a seam blend texture like in the tutorial f Lez Marawick but the new texture (seam blend) actually looks like the Texture2 in the seam blend menu.

I have my Alpha Texture also added in APCD but do I need it though?
Any help with this problem?

Bernie

I'll be glad to help Bernie. Do you want to do it here on the board for others to see, or would you like to take it up in private messages? Let me know and I'll get it started for you...

Hi Dan,

I think it would be useful also for other beginners to see how to be able to use this important aspect of this program.

Hi Bernie... I have some tips with picture illustrations made up for you, but am having problems attaching the pictures. I have a PM in to Andy about it at the moment. As soon as I clear that up, I'll post a reply here for you.

Thanks and stay tuned,

Dan

Dan, you should have posted this before I started making courses :wallbash:
Very well put together - concise and to the point. :tiphat:

Bernie,
Good luck.

Andy, how about making this a sticky? With instructions this concise, it's tempting to try to learn the APCD.

I've taken the liberty of extracting Danny tutorial from this topic and creating a new sticky topic for it.

Hi BVDesigner 152.

Seam Blends definitely need an Alpha to work - but sometimes Alphas can get corrupted - so if you're using, say, Alpha1, try Alpha2 to see if that works.
Also, make sure that you have called the texture Seam Blend - you usually only need a seam blend for Near (rather than Medium or Far).

Cheers

On the start I had problems with rather creating the alphas than using them, because Dan has described the process very well with pictures. The only thing was that I didn't understand that alpha has to be black and without color (I can't remember the word) and not black and white as I trued and wondered why it didn't work :pcwhack: :wallbash:
Now I downloaded a couple of alphas for testing from this forum and from last couple days I work with my own alphas.
But one thing is still a magical mystery for me - how can you use seam blends to create that beautiful bunker lip?
That's still a major use which I can't control.
Could anybody make some tutorials about this or are already some out there?

Preciate your help guys.

Greetings
Bernie
