Most Americans think of Green Bay foremost for its snow (during Winter American football games at nearby Lambeau Field) however the city has worthwhile green space as well during the warmer months. Unlike Milwaukee down south, the gem of the Green Bay golf scene is a new money entry from Dick Nugent, featuring both distance and heroism required for an optimal score.
Playing more than 7,100 yards, Bower Creek divides the property and Nugent is happy to work it into his routing. Players will face 14 forced carries over water throughout the round.
Although many of these are lengthy fours and fives that force the player to make a wise decision before attempting a carry, the most interesting may be No. 8, the shortest hole on the course. The creek was routed so that it flows well below the green, both in front of and behind the putting surface. The style, at least aesthetically, is a strong comparison point to Tillinghast’s Moat Hole at Galen Hall.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE!
Green Bay Country Club, established in 1995, is a year-round private golf and country club overlooking the city of Green Bay, Wisconsin. In fact, the 14th Hole, unofficially referred to as the “Chamber of Commerce” hole, provides a stunning elevated view of the area, from Lambeau Field to the Fox River to the Bay of Green Bay, and all the businesses, homes, and recreational opportunities that make up the city we love.
The Golf Course
The golf course is nicknamed The Hawk, as much for the vision and foresight of our members as for the red-tailed hawks that soar high above our 310 acres of land. Built on beautiful, rolling hills with running streams and towering trees, our 7,097 yard, par 72 course has periodically been ranked among the top five private clubs in the state. Green Bay Country Club’s 18 holes have also been described as one of Dick Nugent’s best course designs. Our course features five sets of tees to provide competitive play for members with varying handicaps. Dramatic elevation changes from tee to green, doglegs, and masterfully placed fairway bunkers add to the challenge of the course. It's the kind of course you'll want to play again and again as you strive to master all of its nuances.
