Welcome to the "Links PGA Tour" where we simulate the conditions of the PGA Tour. **We select the green speed and Pin positions with the courses we have in the data base, to give you the feel of playing along side the Pro's. ** All holes are played from the back tees.
Here's a highlight from my practice round on Muirfield for the upcoming Memorial Tournament. After hitting my drive in the rough on the left side I was faced with an awkward 155Y shot to the green. Just to be clear, this shot was all pure skill, no luck involved and of course after pausing to save the shot I forgot to un-pause the recording. I finished with a 68 with the same conditions posted by SCG. Looking forward to maybe playing the weekend this time
Been a bit pressed for time but have managed to get one round in.
It is a nice driving course, but on some holes position can be key to having a decent next shot.
I found the rough quite punishing and quite close to the greens, thus anything long into the greens can land you in trouble, I speak from experience.
Water comes into play on some of the holes so gives you something to consider as well.
I did play at F/FC and some putts can certainly get away from you, so can be tricky I did lose a couple even though I pulled the speed back a lot, just not enough. Certainly on some putts I would rate speed more important than line.
A few practice rounds I think would be a good idea.
I shot a 67. Cruising right along after an eagle on 15 (my second one of the round) at -7. Then, I somehow managed to use a 9-iron on 16 instead of a 6-iron and went spuh-lash; double bogey. Followed that with a bogey on 17. Saved a little face with a birdie on 18.
Having some problems with you tube so no video right now. It is a three-parter again, which must be annoying to potential viewers, but this was such a nice round until the mentioned hiccups.
A very up and down round. Gain a shot, give it back, gain a shot etc. Some nice shots but some very average ones as well, a couple of decent putts.
Argued with caddy all the way around on club selection, swing power etc.
Found the water once, was literally inches short of where it needed to land, found a few bunkers too, see comment on caddy and club selection & power.
The rough is quite close to the greens and I found it a few times, usually running the ball over the back, difficult to get down from there. The greens can be quite speedy with some considerable breaks, I found with quite a few putts that the safest option was to try and coax the ball down close to the hole, I was fortunate to have quite a few straight up hill putts, which helped save some pars and gain a few birdies.
I carried on from last Sunday, very disappointing.
I also had a problem with club selection but as I have fired my caddie I have nobody to blame but myself.
2 birdies 1 double bogey on the outward nine, with 1 birdie and 2 bogeys (17 and 18) on the inward nine.
My first round is therefore 36/37, 73.
