Index Racing vs Bracket Racing (Dial-Your-Own) vs Golf Simulator
If you are building or racing a street car that runs 11 seconds or quicker, you will typically compete in Index Racing (like 11.50 or 10.90 classes) or Bracket Racing. These classes require a true street-legal setup, functioning cooling systems, and safety equipment like roll bars and approved flywheels/clutches.
The most common drag racing classes for street cars in the 11-second and under range include:
1. Index Racing Classes
Index classes require your car to run as close to a set elapsed time (ET) as possible without going faster than that number (otherwise, you "break out" and are disqualified).
11.50 or 11.20 Index: Common entry-level classes. You can race any door car with street-friendly tires.
10.90 Index: Widely used by the NHRA (known as Super Street). This class permits unlimited engine/chassis mods, but cars must weigh at least 2,800 lbs.
2. Bracket Racing (Dial-Your-Own)
Bracket racing is the most popular format at local tracks across the US, including those in your area like Sacramento Raceway or Sonoma Raceway.
You "dial-in" your anticipated ET (e.g.,11.50), and you race against an opponent who has their own dial-in.
Cars of vastly different speeds can compete fairly, as the slower car receives a staggered head start based on their dial-in.
***SCG - "Bracket Racing (Dial-Your-Own)" is what were attempting here with the golf game.
Taking my "suggestions" on conditions and mixing them with your abilities to "Dial in" your performance to match up with the pros. Jim this past week was a prime example. He dropped the challenging part all together(smart move) and his scores were right there. For me, I took on the challenge and at times it wasn't golf anymore, it was Survivor on a grassy knoll.
Everybody is at different levels of the game. I'm looking "to keep the racing tight and fair so Cars of vastly different speeds can compete fairly". If the speed of the greens is too much, "Dial" it back to a speed you can control. If your scoring too much, Make it a tougher condition on yourself. You know your game and yourself best. This is a "Game" and it's about fun. If your not having fun and want to spend your time complaining then maybe this ain't your cup of tea.
