Drew an afternoon tee time at the Valero, started with a wayward drive and eventual bogey to start the round, 3rd hole saw my tee shot hit a gust of wind and fall into the pond in front of the 3rd green, re-teed into bunker right of green, made double bogey, so 3 over after 3 holes, just not my year I guess, birdies at 4, 6 and 8 sent me out in even par 36. Back 9 couldn't seem to get close to pins or sink any putts, 9 pars brought me back in at 36 for an even par 72. Can't wait to watch some of the TV coverage to see how the real pros are doing.

Unfortunately, my recording glitched and I have nothing to show for the 63 I shot. (Would "the dog ate my homework" ring truer?)
Just about everything I did worked; I even eagled the first hole but can't even prove it!

My finger slipped on the second shot on hole no.2 leaving me a 260-yard third shot, and I nearly birdied it.
-6 on the front and -3 on the back. It seemed like I had the right club for every wind gust. The only blemish was a bogie on 18 thanks to a water ball on my second shot, and I still almost got a par.
I'm just glad I waited until today to play.

lol It's the honor system here. The only person you hurt with a lie is yourself. A 63 is a great start. Looks like your rounding into form

I know, it's just that I couldn't believe how I was playing. I just kept saying "what the heck?" or something akin to that while I played.

No heroics here.
The practice rounds were better :)
Still a tidy -3, but 3 bogeys and 6 birdies. The score hides a lot of scrambling for pars.
However a bit of time on the driving range to get used to the mouse on this system paid off with a reasonable if unspectacular start. I routinely play Links on 3 different system with 2 different operating systems and 3 different mice.
This course suits the challenging conditions quite well, although if the greens were any firmer they could pose real problems holding a ball. The wind played its part.
