Windows 11 Upgrade

If you've been told that you can't upgrade your Windows 10 to Windows 11, I may have good news. Right now there is a downloadable .iSO copy of the 25H2 Windows 11 available. That can be loaded on a USB with RUFUS, and following instructions found at Youtube.com you can upgrade your Win-10 to Win-11 even if it doesn't qualify.

Pete,
Windows will stop you doing an upgrade type installation, but it has proven to be possible to do a full installation from USB/DVD media. As you have found it has been documented and I know people that have done it on pre Gen 8 Core i series processors.
The current Windows kit is available from Microsoft and you can download a media creation exe from them, so using something like Rufus can be optional.
You would want to be installing on a SSD, even Windows 10 is pretty slow when using a HDD.
I was considering putting a M.2 in a Gen 7 notebook and reinstalling Windows, until I lucked out with a replacement system and the Gen 7 became a Linux machine.

Des, what I was referring to was my w-10 machine telling me that my PC wasn't eligible for upgrading to W-11 because I was missing a few W-10 updates. (I built it in 2019) I had W-10 updates turned off for a while back when they had the attitude "The H with you and your needs, your machine is mine and I'll update it when I want!" I checked the "is your PC ready for W-11?" routine and it said "No. Not eligible for updating to W-11" I figured my PC was just a write-off.
But then I started doing what my grandchildren do - I checked Youtube.com. I found a few titles that basically said "If you've been told you can't update W-10 to W-11 because your PC isn't eligible, this is how you do it!" I got instructions for downloading the 25H2 W-11 .iSO, putting it on a thumb drive with RUFUS (another Youtube.com video), what settings to use, etc. I did it and now my PC has W-11. I wanted people to know that there is a way! (I am a retired mainframe and PC programmer, so some experience is necessary, but a hobbyist can certainly do it. A grandchild can, too!)

Missing updates is a different story to Microsoft saying any pre gen 8 i-series process is not running Windows 11.
People have proven you can run it on such machines.
I am more than familiar with Microsoft's we will do an update when we want it is just a background job, which translates to we will take over your machine so it is unusable until we have done with it, and btw you will have to reboot as many times as we say during the process.

Never thought I'd see you telling people how to upgrade to W11!

I like it.
Is this an upgrade over w10, or a fresh install of w11?

Fresh install over W-10! And it upgraded me to W-11 Pro since my W-10 was Pro. Nice!

Hi Pete,
I'm curious if you notice a difference with Links 2k3, for example - with the swing meter?
Cheers

No swing meter, RTS! Everything the same.

I've played Links on both Windows 10 & 11, again RTS, it made no difference.
To be honest I expected the versions to be much and much.
Curious as to what sort of difference in Links you are looking for.

Hi dwg,
hmm, long story short.
My old Windows 10 system — CPU, GPU, and monitor, is perfectly configured for a good Snap.
On my newer systems, the Swingmeter is way too fast for me, and I can't slow it down.
That's why I wanted to know if anything has changed regarding the Swingmeter speed.
Unfortunately, Pete uses RTS, which I should have known.
I'll either play on Win10 for as long as possible, or I'll play as an amateur.
Microsoft is just annoying me; I don't really want Windows 11, and if necessary,
I'll just disconnect the internet in 11 months.
