I came across the comments below and mention of a new patch. I can confirm it does exist and it apparently works well. It was on Discord. I've since also found there was a patch created for Links 2000 to work on Win 10/11 by the same person.
I don't use Links 2003 but do use Links 2000. If anyone knows anything about the Links 2000 patch please contact me on the forum or via PM. I would love to be able to run 2000 on my modern computer. Thanks, living in hope!

"The patch size is 423mb so I think it's a little more involved than a tick in a checkbox.....do the decent thing ...and send the KIWI a LINK so's he can link up with your link so's he can solve his Links2k3 issue...simples....the KIWI can then fire up his Links2k3 ....you've then proved your theory and provided a a potential Links player with the link he needs to link up other Links players thus the admin can STICKY THE LINK so more Links players with the links res/or hardware issues can iron out their gremlins with the link you provided Links....booohhhyyaaaa...ps.....I purposefully tried to insert the word Links as many times as I could ....hehehe
Patch is not mine to give out. I really don't blame the creator for not making it public as the treatment here is beyond belief. I should probably thank you all because without your idiocy I would also still not have the patch. Four people have the patch as far as I know and there is no intention to share it any further.
Adelade, I will be leaving now, never coming back. You are the strangest person I've ever come across online. The others are just keyboard warriors.
Sometimes a patch is already incorporated into the executable, rather than something applied separately. But I'd sure want to know it had been thoroughly tested before overwriting what is already installed and working.
Links 2000 could be a tall order on 64 bit Windows
Windows uses a layer called WoW (Windows on Windows) to run different bit binaries. The WoW layer only supports a single bit down level. So on 64 bit Windows the binaries would have to be 32 bit. 16 bit binaries would not work.
