It won't run in anything except 800x600 16bit.

I have Links 2003 installed in 1080p with no issues.

You might try going into the registry and manually changing things in the display section as far as software mode and graphics mode are concerned. This has worked for me.

Change the settings as per this thread below as it works for Links 2001. Software = 0, Windowed = 0 and Mode is 3. 3 is the only mode that will work for me but it does work on my W10 laptop.

it was the mode that i didn't change, setting it to 0 forced hardware rendering but now i'm getting some graphical issues.

ok, i'm getting the graphical issues to go away in windowed mode.

what does the Depth change in the registry? the color?

ok, here's the registry settings, i have but i can't force it any higher than mode = 3 or it reverts back to 1.

Yeah you can't go higher than 3.
Depth might be bit rate? 16 vs 32 and I think the setting of 1 represents 32 bit.

You might also try the fix that Andy has as a sticky on the top of this tech section. It's titled Links 2003 Intel solution but it works for Links 2001 as well. I also did not have 3d acceleration with Links 2001 and it worked with the fix. Works for some older games as well. Good luck.

has anyone been able to get 2001 working with a Mode setting above 3?
i got 2003 set to Mode 14 but the 1.05 patch is probably why.
