A buried bunker lie according to the info I have is expected to come out low and with no spin, hence is expected to run a lot further, perhaps 2x is a bit excessive though.

I never did much like bunker shots :)
You would be correct if the ball came out low and rolling. However, the ball flies out as if shot from a mortar, and travels by air much farther than expected. I was once advised that 1.07 was supposed to fix it, but apparently not so, at least for many of us.

Went out early and fortunately for me the wind was only gusty.

Like Des, I missed too many greens when the wind gusted just as I hit the ball.
Like Doug the par 5s were not so friendly as yesterday, 3 birdies yesterday only one today.
Add to that, the putter didn't work so well as yesterday.

After all that, I still managed a 33/34 for a 67.
This score was only made possible by an eagle 2 on the 13th. (3 iron)

I was never feeling comfortable today.

You are holding the rounds together much better Ian, so the improvement is occurring.

In the midday rush at Craig Ranch, started off well enough always best to miss the first fairway but scrambled for opening par, birdie at #2 and #3, par at #4 with bridies at #5 and #6, came up short of #8 into the sand and made bogey the only blemish on the front nine, birdie at #9 to go out in 33, inward nine started with a par and birdies at #11 and #12, bogey from the front bunker at #13 (notice a theme? Doug's not the only one struggling with the sand) laid up with a 3W at #14 almost holed out approach shot for a tap-in birdie, missed 2 of the next 3 greens but still made pars, eagle attempt lipped out from 30 feet so settled for birdie at #18 and came back in in 33 shots for 32-33=65 10 fairways, 13 greens, 25 putts, had 3 very makeable putts that I missed but satisfied with my result today. Looked at how the rest of you guys were scoring before I posted this, good job boys!!

First the bad news. Unfortunately, I had to sack my caddie today after he came late to practice. For the present I will act as my own caddie.

I found the front nine difficult, just like yesterday, with an eagle on the 9th giving me 35 going out.
The par fives were my friends, with 3 birdies and an eagle, but just like Jim yesterday I missed some very makeable putts.

No bogeys on the back nine, therefore I could sign for a 35/32, 67.

Good luck to the later starters.

Sigh another cut missed, the life of a journeyman golfer.

I did get a round in, another 69. Figured I need the practice.

Early on just lacked the killer instinct with the putter so did not get makeable putts, later in the round did not give myself the chance with the putter, found three bunkers but was pretty happy with my escape shots. Again was missing greens but quite happy with the chipping and pitching part of the game. Driving is not a problem just could do with another 20 metres off the tee.

I did claw my way back after a couple of soft bogies early on the front nine along with missing makeable birdies at the start of the round.

It is a nice course to play the designers have done a good job.
