I just had my practice round.

I'm in shock. The brakes on the ball failed several times but I was able to get up and down, mostly left putts with little break, even holed out of a bunker, 7 birdies no bogies for a 65.

Mostly clubbed correctly although a coupe of holes I am still scratching my head over the right club to play, on the other side of the coin on the 9th I went two clubs stronger, and it turned out to be the right choice, usually leave it short there.

It would be my best round at Augusta and under these conditions. Oh I need some gaffer tape to put on the mouth of one guy in the gallery.

It is a bad sign it must all be downhill from here.

I have never tried a 1 iron in real life nor in Links. In real life I gave up on a 2 iron and have had a love/hate relationship with the 3 iron. Again in real life I used fairway woods (yes I mean wood in the day) and in more recent times a hybrid.

I found in Links I am not getting along with a lob wedge, again in real life I have one.

I took this same mentality to Links and replaced the long irons with fairway woods, 2003 was just on the cusp of hybrids gaining popularity so it was little early to see them in Links.

So in Links I end up making up a set to suit the game, more than mirroring what I really play with.
