Ditto in spades :fear:

One thing I have just tried differently today after the usual was to exit Razer Synapse altogether + Razer's Game Manager Service 3 service.

Lo and behold Links fired up first time after having 6 fails at starting. However had to re-eneable Razer Synapse as the mouse settings were unplayable at RTS. So selected my Golf Profile (that I use for Perfect Golf and Links 2003) instead of the VP4 I had been using, then exited Synapse as per previous paragraph before firing Links 2003 up again. Started again very quickly (1st or second time) and the swing was controllable again at RTS.

So do you use a Razer Mouse? I also have a ROG Gladius (Asus mouse) that I may try on Friday (instead of my usual Razer Deathadder) to see if it was just a fluke :dunno:

It would be interesting if the problem is mouse software related.

I am just using bog standard mice with USB, WiFI and BlueTooth.

Hi,

I've been using a USB Logitech G MX518 mouse without RGB for a long time.

I've been trying for over a year to get Links 2003 to work on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers with no success.

I7-12700k, Radeon 6600XT Windows 10
I7-12700k, Radeon 9070XT Windows 11

Install 1.07 patch, Install Nvidia Patch...

Launch game as admin
Launch game as admin in compatibility mode (I've tried all of them)

Same issue both computers - get the Links 2003 splash screen - then a blank black box comes up and that's as far as it gets.
It never launches into the game - so can't make any graphics settings changes to registry either.

All I can put it down to is another program running in the background doesn't get along with Links 2003.

What is the native resolution of your monitor?

Monitors native resolution is 2560 x 1440

I would not be so sure about the registry entries not being created.

Use registry editor to open up the registry.

See if the path exists:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Microsoft Games
Links 2003
DisplaySettings

If it does set the value of Mode to be 5, exit the registry and see if Links starts properly

Any chance you could have headphones or some PC version of a game controller on your PC?

That's why it goes black. Links won't recognize a resolution that high.

I've tried all resolutions from 800 x 600 up to 2560 x 1440.
I'm not new to the game either - I've been playing Links since the beginning = long before Microsoft even bought the franchise.
I did have it running on windows 10 - and then Windows did an update - and it hasn't worked since.

There is no display entry in the registry. (Note - in the past when Links 2003 worked this entry was created on my other computers - but not these two).
