Winged Foot West screenshots

Post by dorse72 »

Well since WFW's future is in question, here are some screenshots of what I've been doing the last month. Rospen, an old good friend did a great job on this course back in 2005, however the course underwent MAJOR changes in 2016 by Gil Hanse, greens were enlarged 25%, which is alot. there were extrusions everywhere that need taken out, the mesh was a mess really once the course was opened up in APCD. And with my detailed/perfectionist nature, if I was going to do this great course, it was going to be perfect! I set out to make some of the best bunkers, and I'm still not done with them, but I have to take a break. Hopefully someone can save it, if not, I will just start over and do the same thing and take my time and make sure it will accept trees before I continue.

Here are some screenshots of the course since I've barely posted anything. ALL new fairway, Green, sand, and raked sand textures by me, that I really like. textures are from Brook Hollow GC here in Dallas, a fantastic AW Tillinghast club I used to work at and could play golf at on my days off. I have more, but need more time to perfect them.

My plan for the future is to release Winged Foot West in a Fall theme with some great fall colored trees, the course looks amazing in the fall and leaves on the ground.

here are some looks at the course no one can play!

Hey, dorse........it looks like you have an excellent start on the new design. Please don't feel bad about it not being ready for this year's US Open. You had a HUGE task ahead of you, and not a lot of time. Plus, unfortunately, you had major problems with both the APCD and your computer, so you definitely did what you could. I think the plan you have is excellent. Work on it carefully when you can and go for the fall setting. I have no doubt that it will end up being a fantastic rendition when you're done. I'm sure it'll be as accurate and realistic as you can make it.

Kudos on your efforts !

Maybe 2020 will throw us a bone and some breakthrough will be found so you can finish this course. If not, it was a great attempt and the gods are smiling upon you! :)
