Links PGA Tour 2026 - John Deere Classic

Welcome to the "Links PGA Tour" where we simulate the conditions of the PGA Tour. **We select the green speed and Pin positions with the courses we have in the data base, to give you the feel of playing along side the Pro's. ** All holes are played from the back tees.

I had problems with about 12 CRZs with the DgVoodoo wrapper, including the most recent 2 Deere Run courses. Hole 12 was where it would crash on me.

When the DDrawCompat wrapper was released earlier this year with the ability to work with Links I tried it. While I have had to refine the settings for that wrapper and not use the out of the box settings, I find I have been able to play all courses I have tried when using it, including the 12 problematic ones I had before. The posted kit for this wrapper on LC I believe includes most of the changes made in the bundled parameter file.

I need to use a wrapper on my Windows notebook as it only has an embedded Intel Iris XE GPU in it. On my desktop I dropped a simple Nvidia GT1030 HBA into it and that is working pretty well, sans wrapper.

While this may be helpful for the future, Matt needs an immediate solution. Unfortunately, I am not a computer expert in any way, shape or form.

If I were confronted by this situation, I would shut down my computer, restart it, open Links, and then try Load Saved Game. Failing that, I would start a new round with the affected course and begin the round again, hoping to see it offer to restart the previous game.

I spent some hours trying to find a solution when using dgVoodoo, trying various parameters/settings, I found some that could delay the hang/crash but never found a reliable solution, I could resolve it on my desktop by adding an HBA.

My thought at the time was the next time I need to replace my notebook, either get one with an Nvidia add on GPU or try a machine with an AMD processor, which of course means an AMD GPU. My current systems were not purchased with the thought of running Links.

Since swapping wrappers my thinking has changed and I can be more flexible. However an AMD GPU may be good for Linux, Nvidia is not, Intel though works well under that O/S.

I have tried later versions of dgVoodoo and they get worse in their support of Links.

Sorry but I do not really have a solution.

Des, a while ago when I was experiencing a couple of interruptions every time I was playing a round in Links you said that it was possible I didn't have enough memory. I've noticed that after deleting a bunch of files I didn't really need, that I haven't experienced as many, if any, interruptions. While I have virtually no understanding of how RAM or unused storage capacity affect system performance, could something as simple as that help, or am I just getting lucky?

For virtual memory Windows uses on disk space but this file is permanently allocated, if Links were to write temporary files, free space could be a factor but I do not think Links does this. As a 32 bit application Links cannot address a great amount of memory.

Windows is not great at handling swapping between disk and memory, so avoiding the need to do a lot of this tends to make Windows more reliable.

The obvious questions is how much memory does your system have and how much free/total storage space do you have.

I have just noticed that, just like my golf game, my last post is missing.

Better that yesterday but not by much.
Birdies on 1, 2, 11, with bogies on 7, 13, 17 and 18, for a 34/38, 72.
My short game is desperate but the only way to improve it is by playing more golf. (two rounds a day Thursday thru Sunday will not do that.)
I will see you all at the weekend as I will be playing in an honorary capacity.

8GB left. Its only hole 15 it does it on. I can't even use practice mode on it.
