Looks like I'm first. A 67, and I'm grateful for it. Too many knee-knockers for par, which can be big trouble on this course, and made all of them. The bogey required me to chip-in, which I almost did (well, sort of.) Just wasn't dialing in my irons very well. As has been said, you can't win the tournament in the first round, but you can lose it.

Which one are you most proud of? Well played.

I think this course is the hardest course I have played since I joined, with perhaps the exception of Augusta? (Certainly this is the most difficult from tee to green.)

Before I play my tournament round I always play a round in practice mode with todays playing conditions, and the previous days pins, or the practice pins. I have never taken so long to complete a practice round as I did today. Trying to find the where to hit the tee shot was so difficult. (I was surprised that in the game I couldn't move the tee peg to a different location between the markers. I thought that it was possible to?)

A chip-in birdie on the first and a birdie on the second gave me a good start, but with two bogeys on 5 and 7 I went out in level par. The back nine was fine with three birdies on 13,17,18 and a bogey on 16. for a 35/33, 68. I am very pleased with that.

I will play more practice rounds with this tournament as can't build Pelican Hill as it is in ICU. Hopefully DR Linkster will be able to bring it back to normal.

Ian,

The ball can be moved on the tee, I have tried it, but the software will limit where you can move it to. As you click, hold and drag the ball around, it will show a hand if the position you drag it to is valid, but a round circle with a line through it if the location is invalid.

Ian, I'm not particularly proud of either, but happiest about no breaks in my recording.

It's odd that you couldn't move the ball's tee position. I've never had that happen to me.

I've played this course many times and always found it challenging yet believe it to be one of the most interesting in Links. Considering your progression, IMO your 68 shows you're getting it.

Oh, Ian, sorry to hear about Pelican Hill. I love Linkster's work, and hope he can help you, but please don't distract him from updates on Shinnecock or Royal Birkdale.
