Zurich Classic - TPC Louisiana

Post by dwg »

Just wondering why this is not being played this week?

I see the course in the Links Library.

Des,

I believe because it is a two man team event we really don't have a way to make teams and play along with them.

That would be something of a rarity on the tour.

The next things will be 4 man team events with also individual winners ...

Yeah somebody should give that a try and here's another little wrinkle to add, go to places all over the world that don't normally get professional golf tournaments! We might be onto something here!

They've been doing it since 2018 and have just extended their deal through 2030. There's got to be a way to play best-ball as well as four-ball (they use both formats during the tournament) by swapping yourself for a player you don't like then adding his partner from our stock of available platers in our stash.

Other than that, I guess you can just get some practise time on The Blue Monster.

That's what I've been doing, played rounds on the wrong version, then realized was wrong version and played on the correct one. I remember they took Doral off the schedule and thought it was because the current owner wasn't maintaining it to what the Tour expected, but haven't found anything that corroborates that.

I just looked at the scoreboard-the cut was ten under and last place was even par. :fear:

I decided to set up an emulation of the first round of the Zurich Classic using, to the extent possible, the actual tournament pins on TPC Louisiana. I teamed up with the ani I play against when I'm not engaged in SCG's PGA Tour. I set up two other ani's (Ani 1 and Ani 2 since I have such a vivid imagination) of somewhat equal skill to act as the other team (which appears to be required in order to use the method of play I wanted.) I used the best ball-stroke MOP as that is what was used in the first round of the Zurich.

My team finished at 63 (-9) and the other at 65. I hadn't played this course in a long time, and I lost my old history when my previous computer suffered the blue screen of death in 2022, but I can assure you I never shot a score this low when playing on my own.

I might give the second round a try; it was contested as alternate shot, which tends to yield somewhat higher scores.

I did record the round, but was interrupted so many times, and the individual files add up to something like 7 or 8 gigs, so I haven't bothered to post it. But it was fun to play.

Did the second round, since I don't sleep. Them 71, us 73. ended up tied at -8 and the other guys had us on the ropes until a crazy quad on 17. Didn't make the cut, so don't know if I'll go any farther.

BUT, this was a lot of fun to do, and it's interesting when you have to rely on a computer player to cover your butt.
