Round 1 is in the books, titled Missed Opportunities. easy birdie at #2, found water short of the green at #4 for double bogey, birdie at #6, went over the green at #7 for bogey, birdie at #9 to go out in 36. Back 9 started with a missed 10 foot birdie putt at #11, rolled off the front of the green with my approach shot at #16 to make bogey for the only colored number on the back 9 to come in with a ho-hum 36 to finish 1 over par 72. 11 fairways, only 9 greens, 27 putts. Had trouble adjusting to the gusty winds with club selections, after practice rounds of 63 and 66. At least there is no cut this week, I'll probably be the only one over par after round 1!

Re: Links PGA Tour 2026 - RBC Heritage
***SCG - I always play well here. I have no idea where my game went. It still amazes me that you can play one game at -9 and the next one at Level par, which is where I found myself this afternoon.
Okay, a little heavy on a couple of shots. A little windy on a couple of others. I had 4 birdies on the front nine but managed to keep them from multiplying by sneaking in a bogie, making the turn at 3 under (-3). The real fun came on the back nine in trying to hold it all together.
After being a tad long on the 12th and picking up a quick bogie, I decided to test the water to see how wet it was on par 3 - 14th hole. (Hint, bring a towel) The water indeed had the required H-2-O ratio to be called water and their for, was wet.

Got round 1 done with and it was a challenge. Started off by missing a 4 footer and thought to myself it's going to be one of those days but I managed to get it under control. A great par save on 11, stayed away from the PIN on 14 after I read what SCG went through ;) . Throw in a bogie here and there but managed a 3 under par. This was tough..........

Managed a 32 going out thanks to two nice approaches on 8 and 9. Then, the greens started eating me alive; they brought back nightmares from Sawgrass. The main problem seemed to be that my approach shots abandoned me, and I had too many chip shots, a particular weakness of mine. I was happy to salvage a 70.

Get well soon Des.
Sorry for my late start, dog ate alarm clock.
I had a crash on 16 with an error too many textures? Unfortunately on restart, Links allowed me continue
.
Today an 84.
Three times in the water on 14 didn't help nor did the gusty wind.
On hole 3 I tried to putt from the fringe, just like last week, but the ball never left the fringe.
A little more practice needed.
