You may notice that my avatar has been up there for many years...well this weekend is why. My logo is for the Carleton University Ravens in Ottawa and this weekend marks the 70th anniversary of the Panda Game against their downtown rivals the Ottawa U Gee Gees (or as we say WHAT THE F*** IS A GEE GEE?)
Carleton usually goes into the game as the underdog but that's no reason not to drink!
Anyway the Raven basketball team is the best in Canada and has held their own against some of the "Name" teams in the NCAA. Last year the architect of the program, Dave Smart was hired by University of the Pacific in Stockton to rebuild the Tigers-they play in the same conference as Gonzaga. They beat Washington State twice so things are already looking up.
One more thing about Ottawa U (the Gee Gee stands for their colours of Garnet and Grey-every other team in Ottawa is black and red)...their most famous graduate was the late Alex Trebek.

THE PANDA GAME
Re: THE PANDA GAME and BASKETBALL
The dynasty lives on as the Carleton Ravens won NUMBER EIGHTEEN, defeating Bishop's University on Saturday...I notice that the March Madness Teams haven't been picked yet...
For those of you who follow NCAA hoops, there's a university in Stockton, California called College of the Pacific. For years their basketball program was a disaster...then last year they hired Dave Smart to be their head coach. Dave Smart is the man who coached Carleton and was the Architect of the Dynasty.
Two years ago he was lured away to the NCAA as an assistant at Texas Tech, but after only one year the Pacific Tigers made him the offer. They're not ready for Prime Time just yet (they're in the same conference as Gonzaga), but they are becoming "known".
