I'm looking to see if someone has the original disc of Congressional CC '99. I HAVE the course but i'm wondering if there is a .tip file on the original disc that I don't have. It would probably be named tipwavs.ls or something like that. Please pm me if you have the disc. Thanks
Chuck
Congressional CC '99
Re: Congressional CC '99
Are you sure it was from '99? I have the original Links LS 1999 version and I do not see Congressional CC as part of the course package, converted or new courses. I do see the .tipwavs.ls files for Bay Hill, Entrada, Latrobe Summer/Fall and St Andrews. Or maybe Congressional was an add-on course because I could have converted the 97 to 99 back in the day.ChuckH wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2025, 10:10 pm I'm looking to see if someone has the original disc of Congressional CC '99. I do have the original disc for Congressional CC 97 and there is no .tip file on that disc.

Re: Congressional CC '99
I've tried to keep notes over the years as to what Access and then Microsoft released. My notes on Congressional indicate there were three releases of this course as an add-on in each case, it was never bundled with Links.
- In 1997 under the LS banner
- In 1998 (called Congressional 99)
- A release in late 2000 under the Microsoft Banner.
Like you I have the first LS version of the course.
I do not know how accurate it is, many of the sources I have used no longer exist, but I do have an indication that there was a tip file on the '99 release.
I have noted a file name of the '97 version as Congress and the later version as Bcongres.

Re: Congressional CC '99
I don't know how I came to the '99 version. I might have got it from The Country Club site. It's basically the same as the 1977 version but it has splash sceens, hole previews and crowds. Links 1999 was the first Links version to have tip files. The course file name is Bcongres.crz. Thanks for the info.
Chuck
BTW, I uploaded all the tip files to the add-on section a couple of months ago and Andy was nice to host them here. Thanks Andy.

Re: Congressional CC '99
Yes, thank you for uploading then, it filled a couple of gaps I had, I think Congressional may be the last that needs to be filled.
I expect many, if they have the CD release, will have the initial release of the course rather than the upgrade. The only time I have really ended up with multiple copies was with the course library packs.

Re: Congressional CC '99
This is an update of a Protip that I was looking for of Congressional '99. I was able to come up with an original disc of the course and there indeed was a "tip" file for it. I renamed it to work in Links 2003 and it worked. The '99 version is "bcongres.crz so you must have that course version to be able to play the "tip" file. If you don't have it, you can get it at The Links County Club. The course is an update of the previous version and has a splach screen, Hole Previews, crowds, Tournament objects, and maybe other 3d objects. It's actually a pretty decent course. It doesn't have HD textures, seam blends, etc. but very playable. In real life, the course has changed since then so the tip file won't work with Andrew Jone's update of 2011 which is very good. Anyway, here's a link to tip file for anyone who's interested:

Just put it in your Courses folder.

Re: Congressional CC '99
Thanks Chuck.
I think that may complete the set.
I have the 1997 version of the course, rather than the '99 update.

Re: Congressional CC '99
Are these .tips files for the old Links games like Links 386/Links 2000?
There was a comprehensive list of all the courses and their files for those games on Discord. I might've saved the list and can check.

Re: Congressional CC '99
I should have read this closer. I went into this thinking that maybe there was a version of Congressional other than the US Open one that might be interesting. Wrong. It's a 32 mb version completed in 2001. That's old, guys! And 32 mb vs 127 mb. And the new one was done by Andrew Jones! Nice to know about the '99 version, though.
