Is anyone creating custom 3D objects for importing into APCD? I recall someone was talking about it and actually learned how to do it.

That was me Sage. I figured out the necessary file conversions to get 3D into the APCD.

I don't think there was much uptake on the subject and I am not a good 3D modeller. The APCD can handle decent textures for the 3D but Links is limited to 256x256 I think. But if there is a small object that repeats many times (tees and fences, etc.), 3D is a very useful way to go. I can do the conversion of a model for you.
