PIN PLACEMENTS AND TOURNAMENT OBJECTS-TOURCAST

Post by Jimbo »

For those who want to play the digital tour as accurately as possible you probably know that not all holes are played from the "Back" tees and they can be moved from day to day-this is particularly true with Par 3's.
You also know that pin placements change from day to day.
But the bad news is, that with the exception of Augusta the tee and pin placements also change from year to year. :fear: :wallbash:
You'll have to use the Tourcast function on the PGA website. It started in 2020 and it shows each hole in detail including the pin and tee placements for each day and (most importantly for me) the real tournament objects, especially things like grandstands. Trust me-you can almost "lose the course" because of the grandstands-I guess that's why they have the "Regular" and "Tournament" Options on APCD.
Of course this only applies to tour courses but I thought you'd like to know (so that I can continue to make your lives a living hell!) :naughty: :wallbash:

Merry Christmas to all APCDers and to all a good night! :cheers1: :clapping:

I stand corrected-previous years of Tourcast do, in fact not only show all the tournament objects (and there are a lot more grandstands) but also show previous years pin placements and hole distances (not all PGA holes play from the back tees-especially Par 3's). Ii includes Spyglass Hill, but for the American Express it only works on the Stadium Course. In San Diegl it only shows the South Course.
British courses have a program called Shotview-I'm not sure that it's as detailed as Tourcast but for designers it's my FYI for you.
I checked Australis and it looks like you guys are SOL...but if I'm wrong (in the true Canadian manner accept my apology in advance! )
It includes the Presidents Cup

Anyway, this only affects a few courses-the "Alternate" tournaments aren't included and neither is Mexico and courses that aren't in North America.
So if you're into setting up tournament objects or fine tuning the season setups (remember, with the exception of Augusta pin placements change, not only each day but each year.

So there you go-it's the ultimate Nitpick! :clapping:
