Is the Great Link2k3 Dying a slow painful death??
Re: Is the Great Link2k3 Dying a slow painful death??
I guess everybody ( I mean ALL pc golf game /or should I say golf SIM enthusiasts ) would like to see a natural SUCCESOR to the Great link2k3 .. eg at present there is a good amount of ways to SHAPE any given TYPE of shot with Links eg punch .flop tinkered with low /or high trajectory in shot set -up ...lets give Links a B- in this regard...but it would be great to see A NEW SIM / a links successor that offers an ABSOLUTE PLETHORA of ways to customize/shape any given shot... and with sports pc gaming at AN ALLTIME LOW... eg EA Sports.. etc, etc ... the likehood of seeing an absolute BARNSTORMER of a golfing game ... pure wishful thinking I guess

Hi everyone, so much truth and wisdom in this message. Long life for the best golf game of all times. Links2003 will never diePe11e wrote: ↑November 16th, 2024, 11:06 pm To be honest we don't need new courses, there is already a ton of them. I only see a need of updating some of them, due to a change of layout, and generally to be updated visually.
And also, to be honest, after playing EA PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR 2K21 and 2K23, Perfect Golf, and whatnot, I always go back to LS2003 due to the freedom of customization of seasons, AI and difficulty. both EA na 2K series are very easy to play and master, while I struggle in LS2003 even at Pro difficulty, Classic swing.

I appreciate what the designers do, and the new courses that they provide. It keeps the game fresh for me.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I read this Links thread with interest because I have been an avid Linkster since its earliest days when it was first created by Access Software. Although, I don't play the game as often as I used to, it is still a great golf game and it is the only computer golf sim I have ever played, except for one a few years ago, but don't remember the name of it. Now that the weather is turning colder where I live, I plan to start playing Links again more often and am looking forward to playing some courses I downloaded, but haven't tried yet. As long as there are people out there who care about this golf game, I believe that it will continue to survive for many years to come!

Re: Is the Great Link2k3 Dying a slow painful death??
A couple of years ago I counted every pro golf tournament around the world that I could play along with on Links 2003. It was a lot. I've tried almost every other digital golf game and always came back to Links 2003. Many of them have the feature where as soon as you hit the ball, you're riding on it - which I just can't watch without throwing up. (A 1991 car accident left me unable to handle much visual motion.) So, the game may be "deadware" to some, but as long as I can still coax a newer computer to run it, I'll enjoy the nearly 2500 courses we already have available.
I think this has been a great thread. Certainly got a lively discussion going.....

I wonder how many people download newly released courses and play the game, but never post at LC, perhaps aren't even members here? The number of times that new courses are being downloaded compared to days-gone-by is the only way to truly measure (what we all suspect is) decreasing interest in the game.

Hey Colin, I've often thought and not out of any ego thing, it would be interesting to have a new column added to the course download page of how many times a course has been downloaded.
Sage......

If there is one thing ................ummmmmmmm.......I can't remember.

Like any software I expect there to be a silent majority that either just read and download or simply just download courses.

The problem with your courses is that column will never be large enough !!!
