Higher screen resolutions than 1920x1080?

Post by Klaz »

Hi folks,
first post here.

I have been running Links v1.07 on a full HD monitor using 1920x1080 res for quite some time with great results.
Now I recently have upgraded to a WQHD screen with 2560x1440 native res, and was wondering if there is a chance to set this resolution to work in Links?

TIA,
Klaz

I have it running in 1920 x 1200, so higher resolutions are possible. Make sure you have installed Links2k3_nvidia_win7_FINAL.exe, then see if that resolution appears on the list. I do recall, when I had a 32" AOC monitor, that I couldn't run it any higher than 1920 x 1200 even though its native mode was the same as yours. This was a couple of years ago, so I may be wrong.

I have a 3440x1440 Ultra-wide and cannot get anything to display in a standard unstretched wide-screen mode without changing the monitors aspect ratio in my NVIDIA Control Panel... Leaving the ratio at default 3440x1440 does however allow me to run Links in it's standard 3 by 4 screen ratio at 1600x1200. It fills my screen top to bottom and has black panels on both sides, and the view is pretty amazing. Plus, I can see the entire Links screen and hole during putt replays in close-up mode, which gets cut off when you are using a wide-screen mode.

Look in your Links Graphics settings and see if it offers 1600x1200. Also, always choose 32 bits on all settings. Don't use 16 at any time. Good luck. Hope you can find an acceptable wide screen mode on yours.

Yeah, I just moved to a 1440p panel as well and tried going beyond the current registry mode 15 setting to no avail. 1920x1080p setting will mode switch the panel down to that resolution causing a softness/blur that isn't overcome by sharpening in the GPU settings either (AMD).

I now run the largest windowed mode I can that Links supports which is 1920x1200.

Here's the reg settings again from a prior post on the old forums:

15 - 1920 x 1200 (thanks, langle!)
14 - 1920 x 1080 (thank, Mick!)
13 - 1808 x 1008 (windowed mode on 1080p monitor)
12 - 1680 x 1050 *
11 - 1440 x 900
10 - 1366 x 768 **
9 - 1360 x 768 **
8 - 1280 x 960 **
7 - 1280 x 800
6 - 1280 x 768 **
5 - 1280 x 720
4 - 1600 x 1200 ***
3 - 1280 x 1024 ****
2 - 1024 x 768 ****
1 - 800 x 600 ****

* This only works on my computer in Full Screen Mode
** This only works in Windowed Mode on my computer
*** I know this value from my desktop computer
**** These are the original values from 1.05
