Screen shot from within Links

Post by Ian Wells »

How can I make a Screen shot from within Links?
I asked this question a year or so ago and Pete. (pmgolf) kindly provided me with two ways to achieve it. The two ways were noted in my APCD book. Unfortunately the book is at home and I am staying with my daughter - in another country.
Can anybody give me the answers? (This time I will copy the answer to a tet file and store it on my laptop.)
Thank you.

Ian,

On my machine, Win10 AMD laptop, Shift + PrtScr, Ctrl + PrtScr, and PrtScr will all result in a sequentially numbered bmp file (screen0001.bmp, screen0002.bmp, etc.) being saved in the root directory where I installed Links.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ian. I've always made these screen shots by simply pressing the Print Scrn button. In Windows XP, it leaves a .jpg file in the Links 2003 main folder, while in Windows 7 it leaves a .bmp in the main folder. I've never needed any other keys except the print scrn key.

Hi Dan,

The reason I asked the question last year was that when I pressed the Print Scrn button the result was a black screen. I couldn't remember if it was a .bmp file so I have just tried it again, and lo and behold it worked. I have no idea how the change has happened.

Senility must be creeping in earlier than I had hoped for? :surrender:

Thanks to all who helped me.
