The idea to move Links to the Linux world could be feasible, but it would require one or more persons with excellent knowledge of that environment.

As I wrote elsewhere, as of today, the only way Windows programs can run on Linux is via WINE (free software which stands fro Wine Is Not an Emulator)
Some people use it to run Excel, for instance, some use it for games. But it is not as simple as 1+1=2 and often one ends up with 1+1=1.5 or 1+1=2.5, unfortunately.

For those who may care to even just investigate this topic, a good starting point may be the following:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_(software)
https://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ
https://itsfoss.com/use-windows-applications-linux/

Popular games have received the "treatment" and can run on Linux via Wine. This is a short list (from 2017, though)

https://www.maketecheasier.com/games-pl ... with-wine/

Unfortunately, a quick search in Wine HQ Database produces the following result:

https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... n&iId=1205

The last tests were made in 2018 and 2019 in mostly Ubuntu or Debian (and as a consequence in Mint which is based on those two), but the best badge
received is Silver and not Gold.. which means it probably works, but not 100%.

Only saving grace elements is that, in general, forums in Linux are extremely helpful and one can almost always count on some experts to get involved if the question is genuine and relevant. I am a member of Linux Mint Forum and even some of my not best questions have received dignified answers. In that group there is always someone who knows something or who knows someone who knows something. However the idea of using Links 2003 in Linux via Wine has occurred before and it has been tried with not exactly a full success. Still the testing done was minimal and not extensive.
