The One Stop Club Shop

Post by Big Sexy JC »

Below are my club sets. I'll try to put everything I used to create the clubs in the club set folder. I'll just add any new sets I create to this thread. All of these club sets will be Hi Res, which just means I'm going to take advantage of the max 1024 textures that the game will allow.

Titleist TSR3 Driver with T100 Irons and Scotty Cameron Phantom X7 U Mallet Putter
Titleist TSi3 Driver with T200 Irons and Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Plus Blade Putter
TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus Driver with P790 Irons and Spider Tour X Mallet Putter
Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond Driver with Paradym X Irons and Odyssey White Hot Versa Seven S U Mallet Putter
PXG 0811 XT Gen4 Driver with 0311 T Gen5 Irons with Battle Ready II Closer Blade Putter
Ping G430 LST Driver with Ping i230 Irons with Ping Prime Tyne 4 U Mallet Putter

Wow, JC, I didn't even see this post until today. I was just planning on posting to ask how the club design work was coming along. This is great. I really appreciate all the new stuff you're adding to LINKS golf ! Would you consider any request for club brands and models, or not ? I won't include any here, until I know you'd be willing to do that. I'm not sure about other Linksters out there, but I for one, enjoy having a variety of clubs to choose from as we play our rounds. Hopefully there is enough "difference" in their performance to make it worthwhile. I just think it's pretty cool. If anyone
ever figures out how to "decrease" the club head sizes from Driver through 7 wood, it would be a small miracle !! ( I've always wanted that ! )

Thanks for your work, JC.........

Ron,

I assume you noticed, but that club post is actually from September of 2023, not last month. Anyhow, I wouldn't mind making a club set or two or a few, but definitely don't want in that business. My read of the room over the last couple years is that most of this forums membership craves new courses (don't blame them one bit for that), but very few have much interest in anis or clubs.

I made the anis for myself and was happy to share them, but folks weren't lined up at my door requesting them. Same with clubs. I would absolutely love to get into the course business, but I just don't have the time it would take for the APCD learning curve.

Also, by the way, I am able to modify the club head sizes/shapes for the drivers, irons and putters in Maya, but it is impossible for the game to use different clubs for Driver, 3W, 5W for example without changing the code of the game. The game only has animations/models (driver.ma, iron.ma and putter.ma) for 3 clubs so all irons use iron.ma, woods use driver.ma and putter uses putter.ma. Unfortunately, that's a limitation with the game.

I've added 8 new club sets to my Animasters 2.0 website . I'll soon be adding individual clubs to the site as well, but that brings me to a couple questions I have regarding clubs since I'm pretty new to this club scene.

1. Do LC members prefer entire clubsets put together by me or individual clubs created by me that they can form their own set with?

2. I'm currently listing only the Driver, Irons and Putter for the club set. Is it important or does it matter to include the shafts and grips used as well?

Also, now that I have Maya (Adelade you'll like this) I have the exact texture mapping for the clubs. Before now, we were only guessing and it was really hard to test with how small the details on the clubs are. I know Adelade and I have discussed how difficult that mapping was for the putters and now that I can see everything in Maya I can tell you it's way worse than we thought.

With all that being said, is there any interest in the .SKL files that I might need to create for the putters? For example, I've already created two Scotty Cameron designs that we didn't have models for (the GOLO 6.5 and the Phantom 5). I guess I have no idea what the skill level is with LC members on using the different versions of the Golfer Utility I provided awhile back to swap clubs and SKL files in and out. This is pretty important with putters because if you download a putter I create, for example, and it's a blade putter but you put it with a U Shaped Mallet SKL file it won't look right. Having the ability to swap those in and out would allow me to share those on my site and give you guys more freedom to design your own sets.

When I selected "clubs" on your site (after signing up), no data came up. What am I missing?

Well Pete. That would be a case of the genius (sarcasm) site creator forgetting to publish the site after updating it with the Clubs. It's been fixed now. Thanks for the heads up.

The info on the pages doesnt show up quite right - at least not for me on Firefox - text and stuff on the far right and far left sides get cut off (even if you scroll to the very end) see 2 example images below.

Adelade,

I'm finding with this Wix site that getting it to play nicely with different platforms, resolutions, devices, browsers, etc. is a royal pain in the ass. In a former life I built and maintained websites, but you couldn't pay me enough to do that now. Total nightmare.

By the way, it should be improved (I'm not dare going to say fixed) now.
