Pasatiempo GC is currently being worked on - with much frustration, I may add.
Presently the first 7 holes are complete(?)

Hello everyone.. I am new here although I was a young player back in the 1990's and now I have some wear and tear on me.

Re-discovering Links and so many new courses, I cannot help but saying thank you to all those people who contributed beautiful courses (real or fictional).
They have been a great help during a time when, due to covid, traveling has been very restricted and escaping with Links to far away golf courses greatly beneficial.

The good thing for me is that I have been able to get all the course names that caught my attention over the years. However, I have been spoiled by the HD ones.

I have 2 specific questions:

1) Will there ever be a Pebble Beach in HD? The current one is nice, but it could be even nicer with more details. The real location is spectacular ... It is one of my favorite courses and I tend to play it often (on Links and not on the real course which costs an arm and a leg).

2) This is similar to the first one: will there ever be an HD updated version of The Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol. This is my relaxing course. Its open fairways allow me to smack the ball real good and I play it with open windows or a fan to feel the ocean breeze.. I actually do live not to far from the ocean!

I like so much HD courses that sometimes I play at Wade Hampton just to look at the scenery and my golf game suffers as a consequence. A few times I shot in the water on purpose to get close and see the details

There are so many beautiful courses that it would be tough for me to pick my favorite 10, but those 2 above are probably those I play the most. Very favorite to play is TPC Sawgrass, but it not as relaxing to me as Cabo or Pebble Beach.

Cheers,
MrT

I pity the poor fool who doesn't help you, Mr T!

Concerning the 2 courses you asked about, I don't know of any updates beng worked on for them. Sawgrass, though, has 3 versions available - select the one you want: Sawgrass 2007, Sawgrass 2008 and Sawgrass updated 2019. If you haven't played any new courses, though, try one of these:

Augusta National 2009-2010
Crooked Creek HD
Whistling Straits HD
Pine Valley Golf Club
Wentworth West 2014 PGA
Torrey Pines South 2013
Bay Hill 2016 - TE
Pinehurst #2 Restoration HD
Kapalua Plantation 2009
Harbour Town Golf Links

or any of Mike Jones' courses.

Thank you pmgolf. And, yes, I have already played all those courses, but one. Torrey Pines is so far my best score ever (although I am bit erratic on it). When I was in graduate school, we had that game in our office and we only had for courses (late 1990s) and one of them was Torrey Pines South.

Sawgrass I play the 2019 updated edition... Sawgrass is the most fun for me as golf goes. Oakmont is where I measure myself with putting.
Sawgrass is not the best looking among all courses though. Let's say it could be looking prettier. The latest Oakmont (still in beta) is much better than the previous one can see the greens better as they are.

Still... Pebble Beach and Cabo is where I go to ease my mind and listen to the waves from the nearby ocean. Kapalua is a "friendly" corse to me, at least in the latest edition.

At Pebble Beach every now and then I shoot the ball where the houses are. So I can go and check out the swimming pools, maybe a few scantily dressed ladies.... Nice real estate there, for sure!

I, too, am a fan of the Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol, and would like to see it updated to HD level. It's just a fun course to play. And if someone is good at doing pretty much "desert style" ( w/ocean view ) courses such as that....perhaps they might be inclined to create the "El Cortez" course
at La Paz in Cabo, that I've mentioned earlier in this thread. Both of the layouts offer some really scenic holes , both from hilltops and ocean front.
Mr. T, you sound like my kind of Links golfer. Welcome back to this really GREAT game, and to the LC. ( Although I'm not really sure you'll find the
bikini clad ladies your looking for near the pools ( hint to designers ! :naughty: )....you'll find plenty of great cyber golfing here !

Yes, you are right Weeler, ... but I keep intruding in other people's properties.... Of course, mine is a purely scientific and architectural interest...
Gee.. if Cabo were in HD.. I probably do not even need to go to the beach anymore!

Another course that , I'm almost sure has been mentioned somewhere on LC, ( maybe in the first Courses I'd Like To See in Links ), is Shadow Creek in Las Vegas. OK....you caught me. I've been watching the gals of the LPGA in a match play tournament on Golf Channel. It's a good way to
view the whole course. I know....it was a "custom ordered" high profile venue for Casino mogul Steve Wynn originally. They chose Tom Fazio to design it, and it is loaded with golf "eye candy". It kind of reminds me of California's "Sherwood" on steroids. But when you see gameplay down on the lush
tree lined , manicured fairways and bubbling brooks , it certainly doesn't look like a Vegas track ( aside from the colorful mountain views now and then ). But....when it comes down to it, it seems like a very challenging 18 holes. I, personally, think the course would lend itself well to LINKS HD standards in the hands of 1 ( or more) talented designers. So, it gets a vote from me. Anyhow, logon to www.shadowcreek.com and check it out.

Alright, this thread inspired me. I've never completed a course design before, but I figured I'd give it the old college try. Hopefully now at this stage in my life I have the patience for an extended project and the persistence to slog through the challenges that will come up.

:fcrossed:

Hopefully it all works out eventually.
