So sad to see this, I always loved the coverage of the Open Championship when he would do a few hours of the coverage on ABC. He'll be greatly missed.

One of the all time greats in any sport. A lot of the newer commentators could learn from him.

Great loss to the Golfing World - such a wonderful announcer to listen to.

The Voice of Golf... I used to love watching his show Around with Alliss where he would play golf with celebrities and various people.

He was a great commentator and had his quirky tales and famous quotes... like "It's like turning up to hear Pavarotti sing and finding out he has laryngitis." - reflecting on Tiger Woods shooting a third-round 81 at the 2002 Open and "One of the good things about rain in Scotland is that most of it ends up as scotch."
