Ten Favorite Links courses

Post by kunrod3 »

Just for fun, I thought I'd list my top ten favorite Links courses. Would love to hear about your top ten.
Which ones have I forgotten!?

In no particular order, these are the ten courses that to me are - challenging, great to look at and extremely well done.
If I were stuck on a "digital" island, these are the ten courses that would keep me entertained. (I realize that ten is a
woefully small number considering all of the great courses that have been produced.)

Crooked Creek
Augusta
Bethpage Black
Pinehurst
Pilgrim Trails
Troon
Pine Valley
Whistling Straits
Burns' Old Links
St. Andrews

... honorable mention ...

Wentworth
Olympic Club
Turnberry
Sawgrass
Kiawah
The Belfry
Shinnecock Hills
Royal Kenya
Hazeltine
Bunclody
Muirfield Village
Olympia Fields
Westchester
Wagga Wagga

Cheers!

If I had to add just one course to your list it would be Tall Pines Estate.
No arguments with your choices.
Glad to see Pilgrim Trails, one of my all time favorites.

If I was to add three
Tall Pines Estate
Arrowhead SE 2001
Boat of Garten Tournament (middle tees are longest)
As you mentioned there are just so many we could pick. Great designs!

Always love talking and hearing about favourite courses! I change my list around all the time, and I'm still only in early days of exploring the vast library of fictional courses, but here's my current top 10 publicly available courses:

Thunder Golf Club
Augusta
Blackwolf Run
Scioto
Redstone
Diamond CC
Meresbrook Forest
Oakmont (2010 version)
Huntingdale
Pine Valley

Honourable mentions, well I could go on about those forever  but I'll just mention some that I dont remember seeing much mention/discussion of:
Ridgewood, Crandon Park, Amsterdam, Portmarnock, Royal Montreal (2014 version), Barsebäck, Wade Hampton.

Finished Courses - Main: Amedal (fictional), Nine Bridges (real)
Other: Austin, Sheshan, Kauri Cliffs, Le Golf Nat. Updates: Whirlpool, Royal Lytham, Royal St George's, Chicago, Chambers Bay, Munchen Nord E
Working on: 2 fictional courses + a couple things...

Glad to see Blackwolf Run on your list. Great layout. I would add Piazza Metallica to the list.
Anything Mike Jones made would be a candidate. So many great ones I missed.

Doing the same. I'm going through every course I have ever kept fictional or real.
With new graphics hardware and settings, Links 2003 looks better than ever and it's fun going through the courses. I'll probably need a year or two to create any kind of list.
