There are places that can retrieve your data after a disk crash.

Sad to hear that Sage, hope you are able to restore. I try to save a backup of my main APCD on an external drive now and then after every major update of my planting set.
Finished Courses - Main: Amedal (fictional), Nine Bridges (real)
Other: Austin, Sheshan, Kauri Cliffs, Le Golf Nat. Updates: Whirlpool, Royal Lytham, Royal St George's, Chicago, Chambers Bay, Munchen Nord E
Working on: 2 fictional courses + a couple things...

Sage,
That is horrendous news. I hope that you can find a solution.
Good luck.

Sage there are adapters for connecting a drive to a computer. I don't how comfortable you are with working on a machine but if you were to buy a adapter you would need to know what kind of hard drive you have (SATA, IDE, etc) so you purchase the correct adapter. I have one that handles SATA, IDE as well as laptop drives and you just remove your crashed drive from the computer then connect the adapter to the drive. plug the power cable in and then plug the usb connector into your new machine and your crashed drive will show up as an external drive on your new machine.

I have been doing this for years and there is one caveat and that is Windows 10 will not recognize older drives for some reason. If it seems overwhelming it really isn't and i'm sure there are probably how to videos out there.

Glenn

BTW the adapters run anywhere from $10 - $30 depending on what you are looking for.

Hi All,
It turns out resetting windows helped. everything outside of the "program files" directory was not touched. I have all my APCD stuff.
Just setting everything up on the reset comp......

Sage, I’m slow on the follow up, but really glad that you have been able to recover your hard drive files. Just want to add that I appreciate your hard work designing courses. Along with the many other designers that contribute to this site, they have really given the game new life and added to my enjoyment playing my favorite simulation.

A big thank you for your hard work!
