Realistic 2007 PGA (US & European) Rosters
by Adriaan Maarschalk

The aim of this Rosters and short guide is to save some of the frustration of setting up a realistic Career in Links CAREER MODE.

All three Rosters are included. The Pro Roster is based on the current World Rankings; the Semi-Pro Roster is based on the current European Order of Merit and the Amateur Roster on the current US Pga Money List. The Amateur Roster will only be used to create a “Test Roster” Excel file to be used with the CM-Earnings program. The idea behind this is to play all your US tournaments, Majors and World Golf Championships using the World Rankings players. The US money list (Amateur Roster) will be used for those events you’re not playing in.

You will have two CM-Earnings files, one for the US Tour and one for the European Tour. Your Standings.txt files for the Majors will be used on both CM-Earnings files.

Installation:

Place the all the Roster.ROS and Roster.MOD files in your CAREER MODE folder to replace your current files. (Make a backup first but not in the same folder)

In the game navigate to Options/Season Manager/Rosters to make sure the new Rosters show. No need to make any changes. (You can change the names but leave the settings)

Setting up your season:

Before you start with a season there are a couple of things you need to do. These are things that cannot be changed once you’ve started your season. Set up the tournament names and the correct purse for each tournament. Except for the few tournaments where there is no cut and a smaller field like the Mercedes, make sure that your field size is 200. You can still set the cut at the top 70 but this will allow that all the players will have a change to get on the money list.

The tournament names are not that important if you use the CM-Earnings excel program for your stats.

Settings you can change during the season:

The course, the conditions, the pin placing as well as the setting of the difficulty slider.

IMPORTANT:

Create a new player and start a new season. To make sure you win your Q-school event you should either use the default Amateur Roster or play an 18 hole Par 3 course like Tillicum Island Putting Course to make it easier. Once you’ve qualified you can add the new Amateur Roster with the PGA names to generate the Excel file.

Use this table as a guide to set up your tournament:
NOTE: I’ve used Breezy, Moderate Fast as my default conditions

Par 72 Courses
Average score of the leader after Round:
1 2 3 4 CUT CONDITIONS DIFFICULTY SLIDER
-6 -9 -11 -13 +1 B MF 1 LEFT
-9 -14 -18 -21 -2 B MF MIDDLE

NOTES:
  • For par 71 & 70 courses add one or two strokes/round respectively. This works great as your par 70 courses are usually more difficult.
No Wind will play a stroke/round easier and windy about 3 strokes harder.
Firm conditions are slightly harder than Fast.
You CAN move the difficulty slider between rounds. If you feel the field is too strong after round one, move the slider one notch to the left before you start your next round.
Also look out for a new updated Links CM Earnings.xls and the new 2007 Season files (coming shortly) to use with this Roster files.

Have fun

2007 Early Season

Post by Links Corner »

2007 Early Season

(To be used with the Realistic 2007 PGA (US & European) Rosters)

This Season is set up to get you started on both tours. As we only have a max of 48-week season I set this season for qualifying and the 1st 2 European events starting this week. After that you can withdraw from the season and start with the new 2007 US & European Tours that will include all the events up to the Tour Championship and the Volvo Masters.

Remember to save all your STANDINGS.TXT files at the end of each event to be used in the CM-Earnings program. An update will be released later.

Installation:

Place the Season file in your CAREER MODE folder.

If you want to play the HSBC Champions on Driftwood, the pins and conditions have already been set up according to the OWGC Tour at apcd-courses.com so they should be all Mod-friendly.

Have fun

Links 2003 Career Mode Earnings

Post by Links Corner »

Links 2003 Career Mode Earnings

Included:

Two Links CM Earnings.xls files: With this Excel program you will be able to keep track of all earnings throughout a whole 48-week season. You will have result sheets of all 48 tournaments whether you played in them or not.

Both Tours (European & US) with their correct schedules are included.

How it works:

The two Links CM Earnings.xls files are to be used with the Roster files. You can download the Realistic 2007 Rosters for realistic results. Both files have already the correct .csv file loaded so you’ll be able to generate a result if you are not playing in the tournament.

If you want to use the new Rosters you have to create a new player or clone your current player and start a new Career.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to save the STANDINGS.TXT file after the fourth round. (The page with the results and earnings). Rename it to include the tournament name.

Now you can update your earnings in the Links CM Earnings by navigating to the relevant text file.

CREDITS:

A big thanks to Mike Cropf for his time and effort on the programming.

Hope this adds to your enjoyment of Links Career Mode. Also download the Complete 2007 European & US Season to be used with the CM-Earnings files.
The CM-Earning program will be updated soon to include some new features, so keep all your STANDINGS.TXT files.

Thanks
