If you can hold off till the weekend I can take a little look around for you unless anyone else has PC suggestions.
The problem is right now prices are high due to Covid and chip shortages.
I understand it is really difficult for people to buy a PC if you are not very computer literate.

Re: Links won't launch on new device
The card won't be good for gaming. Probably the other PC is actually better when it comes to Links. Anti-aliasing I can show you screenshots when I have a chance unless someone else has an example. It will likely mean a considerably heftier price on the PC. Just quickly looking, prices are still hig...

Re: Links won't launch on new device
Found a similar model with a 1 G card. Is 8 GB of RAM OK or should I stick with 16. Price difference of $140. Any idea what the graphics card model is? If you want Links looking really good with no jaggies we've found here that users with modern cards, anything that is GeForce 10 series or higher s...

Re: Links won't launch on new device
Just curious, does this look like a good choice: DELL Optiplex 7010 Business Desktop Computer (Intel Quad Core i5-3470 3.2GHz, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD, USB 3.0, DVDRW, Windows 10 Professional (Renewed) It has no graphics card. You'd be using integrated graphics. (Much slower than a dedicated card) Take t...

Re: Links won't launch on new device
Suggestion: a cheaper option (that others have resorted to) is available. Either on Ebay, on Amazon with a "Search", or using a Google search, look for an used desktop with video card - preferably with an AMD processor, and make it your Links game machine. You can even check the Dell site...

Re: Links won't launch on new device
You can try the different emulation settings to see if one will make Links work. All you can do is mess with settings to see if you can find a magical one.
I did a little searching and see success rates with games are not great on the Surface Pro X.

Re: Links won't launch on new device
The shortcut would be correct because they have done some funky work with the installers and split elements of the installation. Why the heck they did this I have no idea. Anyhow, back to point, if you need further help with whatever device you want to get Links running on post back. I'm not sure wh...

Re: Links won't launch on new device
Still Linksing, I purchased Links from this website and downloaded it. I then ran the Download and Players executables as instructed. It placed the shortcut on my desktop and that is the info that was in it. This makes absolutely no sense to me. I've never seen the download version and can't unders...

Re: Links won't launch on new device
I just viewed john_iv's response and am wondering if I'm on a useless quest. No, it doesn't mean it won't work. My reference to "C:\ProgramData\Links 2003\Players" was because when I check the properties of the Links shortcut on my desktop, there is a box under Target: that says Start In:...

Re: Links won't launch on new device
Remember guys this is the Surface Pro X which is an ARM device. Not Intel/AMD like the other Surface Pro series. There may be issues w/ the additional layer x86 emulation and Links 2k3 is falling down. It's like an oversized phone running Windows 10. Wasn't aware of that. Let's see what happens. I'...
