Re: Links won't launch on new device

You could try installing the DirectX9 runtime from MSFT. I've had that on my 12700K for other games (Visual Pinball X, MAME, etc.).

Re: Links won't launch on new device

As a datapoint for Links 2K3 on new hardware; I just build a desktop i7-12700K Alderlake with Window 11 x64 and Links 2003 and it's playing fine. I don't re-install Links 2003. I copy over my existing files into their appropriate locations and then also import the Links 2003 registration key in rege...

Re: Links won't launch on new device

Remember guys this is the Surface Pro X which is an ARM device. Not Intel/AMD like the other Surface Pro series. There may be issues w/ the additional layer x86 emulation and Links 2k3 is falling down. It's like an oversized phone running Windows 10.

I'm not 100% on the mechanics of gaming on Steam but it appears that this Links does require you to login to play... so no true offline that I can tell.

Re: Links is back!!!!

I hear ya, one of the fun things though when I fired it up at the splash screen is the voice sample saying 'Looks like I hit the tree, Jim' from way way back, laugh, and the ball in the cup I think is the same sample. Very interesting read, John. It changes my view of the E6 Links. But the displayed...

Re: Links is back!!!!

The TruGolf guys are made up of the original Access dev team that was based in Utah. Sometime after MSFT purchase they formed TruGolf and have been in the large screen golf simulator field for the last 20+ years, (think those big soft screens you smack balls into at high end stores/clubs). The right...

Re: Are the 47 Links Courses from Microsoft All in .CRZ?

Yes, they are crzs (per purchase in 2017). Some of them also contain the Links 2000 versions. They were at the time .exes that you could point to a directory and unzip; or just use 7zip or similar to open the .exe as an archive and just drag out wherever you want. Hopefully you'll also avail yoursel...

Re: Tiger Woods teams with Take-Two on new computer golf venture

Got note from Steam that it's on sale for $20 through 4/12.

As a Links RTS fan I don't like having to hold the button down on my Logitech trackman when I swing, I think that's my biggest gripe of the prior Take Two iterations control method.
