Re: AI can't drop ball

OK, I couldn't wait that long, but decided to use Task Manager to terminate game in the hope that Links 2003 would register an incorrect termination and offer to resume the game, which it did. The game resumed with the AI repeatedly dropping its ball to the accompaniment of the aforementioned pop-up...

AI can't drop ball

Skeleton Coast match play in career mode myself and (Russell Hunter) the AI even and replaying the 18th. AI splashes into water near green and has to take a drop. Unfortunately, the drop area is too close to the water and the ball lands on the dashed yellow drop area outline. Pop-up box "DROP.....

Re: Crashes on startup

Hi adelade, I wouldn't say that the crashes were in any game mode as they all happened as the screen after the one that identified my graphics card tried to load. I've never played online. There was never an error message, simply the box saying it had failed with the options to retry or exit.

Re: Crashes on startup

SORTED!  With a little experimentation with a fresh install on a previously unused win 7 64 bit OS I found the solution. It had to be linked (no pun intended) to my internet connection (I solved the national problem of no internet access over this broadband network twenty years ag...

Re: Crashes on startup

Thanks adelade, my course data folder is in ProgramData\Links 20003, the only thing that I really needed to attend to was ensuring that the player files went into the PolyAni folder, for some reason, they weren't installed there by running Links2K3_Players.exe. I'd momentarily confused myself about ...

Re: Crashes on startup

Once again, thanks everybody for your input and help. There is a lot evidence pointing to a corrupt file, probably one of the files backed up, but would this happen to both of my versions of Links 2003 (32 bit and 64 bit)? these are totally separate installs, albeit on the same machine. Does Links 20...

Re: Crashes on startup

OK, another completely fresh install (I had a problem getting rid of LinksLauncher.exe after uninstalling, but sorted that), created a player and tried a lesson, so far so good. Left lesson to play game...CRASH, so I looked at the Links 2003 folder and although I had four folders backed up by Links ...

Re: Crashes on startup

Thanks Adelade, I've tried launching (several times) from both LinksLauncher.exe and LinksMMIII.exe. I have no settings for Links 2003 in Nvidia control panel, both Anisotropic filtering and Antialiasing-Mode are Application Controlled, I don't know of any other settings that might influence the gam...

Re: Crashes on startup

A new development. After re-installing on my 32 bit OS testerday and re-booting this morning, when the screen showing my 3d accelerator as NVIDIA GTX 750 ti loads I get the message box "Links has automatically selected the primary 3D display device installed on this computer, if you wish to cha...

Re: Crashes on startup

Thanks pmgolf, but Links didn't crash when I was playing, it simply refused to start up after my broadband went down and was restored. On both OSs that it is installed on. A complete uninstall re-install did not correct the problem so I doubt that file corruption is at fault.
