Re: 2001 APCD

Sage, I sent you a PM yesterday. I found a copy of the APCD where the APCE.exe was dated 7/20/2002, so it can't be 2003's version. The .ZIP file was dated later, but not the files inside it. There is also a .HLP file which I believe only exists in the 1.0 version. There is also an APCD1_1.exe which ...

Re: East Lake

Really great looking course, however it's not very playable because of severe pins. What a shame!

Re: Poll: Naming Updated Courses

All that's needed is two or three big wheels with a bunch of different names on each. Then you just spin the wheels to see where the pointers end up. "Woody Beaver Hollow", "Swampy Bluebird Paradise", "Lone Buffalo Patty", "Broken Putter Pond"; you can see th...

Re: Poll: Naming Updated Courses

When setting up tournaments it causes a great deal of confusion when the names of different versions are exactly the same. Keeping the name the same doesn't allow the new version to completely overlay and replace the old version since the course id and Key change and they are what's used to identify...

Steve Sullivan: "Would like opinions on what people think of these looks. Do you prefer planted or unplanted deep grass?"

It depends on how manicured the course is vs looking wild. The less manicured, the more I like the planted deep grass - especially on golf links.

Re: Google Earth

I am in Virginia, and I actually stumbled across Durban CC and looked it over a year or so ago. I'll have to go back and take the walking tour!

Re: Chambers Bay updates

What would the difference be between the two? Less distance on the Members version that couldn't be duplicated by playing different tees? Or a reduction in the amount of heavy rough? Just curious.

Re: Almost Perfect Greens using Contour Maps...

Yes, EJ55, please post details on what you get in the Greenslope books. They have several really good Virginia courses including one that I was a member at for 15 years, and was the last professional win of Arnold Palmer. It's been 20 years since I last played it, and I remember some of the breaks i...

Re: Almost Perfect Greens using Contour Maps...

$97 for the Greens book. But maybe less... When I talked to the guy at Straka I told him that we are a large group and what could he do if we ordered 4 or 5 books? He said maybe he could throw a free course in the mix! If we could pool an order, we could all take a piece of the savings. 4 courses pl...

Re: Tape ruler in APCD

Thanks! At least I know it's possible to use the tape measurer without it covering the number. It always disappears on me, too, when I take a screen shot. For now, though, it looks like I'll have to transfer the .CRZ to my other PC (Windows 7), and do all the measurements there.
