Re: People On Bridge

Might be right Adelade - I'm just assuming, as Dan did, that you can't plant on 3D objects. Honestly tho, I'd just build a new bridge from terrain. Nice quick & easy structure to get your 3D skills up, and it could look so much better than that stock object. And not sure the current knee-high ra...

Re: A Course Idea....Is This Even Possible

DEM questions aside JC.......if you wanted to make each hole true to RL, then it just doesn't seem feasible to me. Ignoring the almost-insurmountable panorama issue you would be faced with, just think of how many textures you would need for 12-15 different courses! Imagine all those different bunker...

Re: HOLE NUMBERS

If you use the Hole swap function, of course it re-routes your course. Its very quick and easy once you've sorted out which holes to progressively swap, so you can get the holes in the new preferred order. I have commenced work on a very famous Australian course which actually has 3 different routes...

Re: Course Testing

Colin, My 8 ani golfers (a mix of great and totally useless golfers playing off varying tees - 4 off the back, 1 each off the other tees) give me 8 different views of the course for just about every shot - that's the main reason I use them. That sounds a very good way of testing which on future cou...

Re: Course Testing

I'm a constant tinkerer - textures, alphas, objects, everything! So I am always designing then testing in game play. When I test with the anis, I have a notepad where I'll jot down everything I am not happy with and need to change. My 8 ani golfers (a mix of great and totally useless golfers playing...

Re: Good Idea or Bad Idea?

Not sure I meet the "guru" criteria, nor completely understand what you are doing, but I'll offer a view anyway.................... I like the elevation detail in a player's more faraway view. I think that's one of the positive things that your DEMS bring - because, I would suggest, most d...

Re: Course Testing

I run hundreds of rounds with AI golfers throughout the life of a design. Always have. Usually 8, at all levels from all tees. It's incredibly time-consuming (and frustrating) to do it regularly - and then a real blitz on betas and finals, but well worth it. I certainly don't agree, tho, that a +8 s...

Re: Pga West stadium course

I had to generate the raster DEM in Cloud Compare first before doing the work in QGIS so this import took about 4 hours to complete which is a little longer than usual. Hi-res DEM's can produce some awesome course accuracy but there is still a lot of time necessary to "complete" the cours...
