GOLF CLUB GUT LRCHENHOF
for Links 2001

version 3.0 released: 10-13-2001

I. changes / fixes made for version 3.0

-	The name of the crz-coursefile remained the same as in version 1.0a / 2.0 (Laerchen.crz), so that the course-stats file, which will be generated by Links 2001, will be updated with any new rounds you'll play with version 3.0 of Lrchenhof. However versions 1.0a / 2.0 and 3.0 will not be compatible for online-play and saved shots and recorded players of version 1.0a / 2.0 will not work with version 3.0 and vice versa.

-	all the tournament objects were reimported and replanted.
(If you uncheck tournament objects now from within Links 2001, all tourney objects will be deactivated. It took Microsoft a long time to fix this bug. But its done now. You will be able to deactivate all of the tourney objects now. This includes for instance: advertisement-boards, course officals, tourney tee signs etc.

-	made changes to some of the elevations on the course to match it better with the existing real course.

-	integrated some new tournament and non-tournament objects

II. known issues and bugs:

-	If you use the dynamic camera option, you will experience sometimes a strange graphics glitch, which will render a few trees in the very distance only partly. This seems to be related to the cut-off point at which the gameengine doesn't render 2d-objects anymore. There was nothing I could do against that.

III. hole by hole description:

Gut Lrchenhof is a 6627m / 7247yds Par 72 championship golf course. This Jack Nicklaus design is the home of the Linde German Masters and was build in 1991. Since 1998, when it hosted the German Masters for the first time, the course has become one of the top stops of the European Tour in Germany.

-	Hole 1: "Easy Going" (Par 4 / 331m / 362yds)
An easy "starting hole", which only might trouble you, when there is a lot of wind from the side.

-	Hole 2: "Bridges" (Par 4 / 389m / 426yds)
Sidewind, which falls in from the left and a champ tee, which was put back by nearly 35m come into play here.

-	Hole 3: "Downwind" (Par 5 / 507m / 555yds)
The name "Downwind" describes this hole pretty good. If the wind blows from the west, you will have a chance to reach the green with your 2nd shot. But beware, there is only a narrow area at the front of the green, which allows for a roll onto the puttingsurface.

-	Hole 4: "Toads" (Par 3 / 175m / 191yds)
A visually very nice Par 3, which is guarded by a pond and bunkers. This hole allows some tricky pinplacements.

-	Hole 5: "Wild Boar Run" (Par 4 / 399m / 437yds)
This hole plays a little bit like a dogleg to the left. Under windy conditions you will have to aim for the right edge of the fairway and let the wind carry your ball back to the center. A middle or short iron to the green will have to carry water.

-	Hole 6: "East End" (Par 4 / 401m / 439yds)
Where do you think might that hole be located? Yes, at the eastern end of the golfcourse. It's a long Par 4 and will require an precise long iron approach to a bunker-protected green.

-	Hole 7: "Up and Down" (Par 5 / 533m / 583yds)
Only a few players will be able to reach this hole in two, even under calm conditions. And if the wind blows, it blows right in your face here.

-	Hole 8: "Apple-Trees" (Par 3 / 220m / 241yds)
This is a Monster! With fast / firm greens, its very hard to get your ball to stop on the green.

-	Hole 9: "Happy Hour" (Par 4 / 429m / 469yds)
This Par 4 plays into the wind most of the time and for missed drives you might be punished by two large fairway bunkers or even by water.

-	Hole 10: "Second Chance" (Par 4 / 383m / 419yds)
Nearly all the time - if the wind blows - you'll find yourself on the tee with the wind in your back. The best spot to land your ball might be the area right from the fairway bunker.

-	Hole 11: "Hazel-Nut Corner" (Par 3 / 150m / 164yds)
This is the shortest hole on the golfcourse. The green is protected by two large bunkers.

-	Hole 12: "Hidden Gem" (Par 4 / 425m / 465yds)
A newly constructed championship-teebox increased the difficulty of this hole, which was one of the easiest Par 4s on the course.

-	Hole 13: "The Oaks" (Par 5 / 465m / 509yds)
A reachable Par 5, a green which is protected by deep bunkers. But a well played long iron shot might open up a possibility for an eagle.

-	Hole 14: "Sun Valley" (Par 4 / 419m /458yds)
A long Par 4, which requires a well played drive to attack the green with your second shot.

-	Hole 15: "The Peak" (Par 5 / 478m / 523yds)
If not played into a headwind, this hole is reachable in two by nearly all players. And even if you have driven your ball poorly, you might be able to birdie this hole.

-	Hole 16: "Lake View" (Par 3 / 178m / 195yds)
A lot of water! And depending on the pin location you will have to deal with two bunkers, that guard the green as well.

-	Hole 17: "Waterfall" (Par 4 / 363m / 397yds)
A bad drive and you are wet. A bad approach and you're wet again. Because the championship teebox was moved back on this hole, the fairway bunker, which was placed by Jack Nicklaus right in the middle of fairway, comes no longer into play. Most players will need a middle iron for their approach shot here.

-	Hole 18: "Homerun" (Par 4 / 417m / 456yds)
This can be a tricky little end to your round. Even with a good drive you will have to think twice about attacking the pin. Is it worth the risk, or should you play more conservative and take the par?
