LINKS CORNER REVIEW

Reviewed by Joe Turner `Loner' March 2002

He was off to a good start, my main cam was blank, red-green in color, with a top view that let me start the round. Without that, the game was over before it began. His mixtures of greens for the tee boxes, mowed fairway, ivy rough and patterned greens looked good, there wasn't a first cut. The fairways were overly narrow and the greens tended to the small side. His fairway bunkers were all placed where the drives would land and the green bunkers weren't in the way. The fairways had humps and bumps not undulations and the greens were perfectly flat giving you the opportunity to have a few very long birdies if would hit your snap There weren't any trees just a prairie of ivy and buildings. I don't know the APCD and he is having great difficulty with it also. The #8 fairway was so badly crowned at the landing area that the ball always rolled into the Ivy, which was a drop area. The elevations were very good but at times the caddie was off. His tee areas only had markers in the back tee box and none in the other two. Many of the greens were shaped like 'punch bowls' if that was intentional it got old fast. I of course hit my #6 ace here, which means I have to keep the course on the hard drive.

His lack of knowledge is evident even to me. His lack of imagination in designing interestingly shaped holes isn't there either. He released four courses in one week instead of concentrating on one good one. He obviously never contacted any other designers for advice, which they would give in an instant. The total lack of any of the items in the 'not included' section also proves that his knowledge of the APCD needs a great deal of improvement. If a beta tester would have tried this course instead of having the Links community and the reviewers test it for him it could have been a better game. Amazingly enough it is playable but who would want to in its present condition, which I pronounce terminal. Don't bother to download it for the putting score alone. Robert you know how to do many things with the APCD, practice them and take your time, ask for help and get your next one tested before you release it.

Reviewer Note

I am a player not a designer and therefore rate a course as a player for other players.
