LINKS CORNER REVIEW |

Being a 'real' course he is somewhat hampered by the placement of hazards but that didn't seem to stop him from building a fantastic course. The textures he used were very interesting, the rough, and the lush look in such a small download is impressive. The assortment of trees were fitting for this course and the luxurious undergrowth really set this course apart from others. The tees, mowed fairways and greens complemented each other. The treatments around the water hazards were truly magnificent as seen in my screen shot.
The elevation meter and the caddie had to be perfect and they were. Elevation is the name of this course. The hazards, water bunkers what have you were all 'window dressing', very poor placement, the true sign of a real course. The elevations, the slopes, undulations, and downward runoff the fairways were the biggest challenge in this course. I had a long driving average but wherever I landed my next shot had a slope that you had to allow for. The fairways were strangely shaped. They were an acceptable size from the tee and became in many cases a bottleneck as you neared the green. They made for fascinating second shots. The putting I feel gave you mixed signals, it looked easy but had interesting little breaks and twists that held your putting average down, no I wouldn't call them difficult, low moderate would be more the case. The carts seemed to be a little small, fine for Mickey Rooney but not for Arnie, a little cart humor.very little, (hole 12).
8th hole par 5, 489y, in this dogleg to the right you can cut across ever so carefully by taking aim at the tip of the top of the bunker on the crook of the dogleg, doing that earned me not only a 283y drive but also a easy 186y approach to the flag. The green is very small so I used a moderately adjusted 5 iron that gave me an eagle opportunity.
15th hole par 4, 469y with a 40y drop, a dog leg to the left, I aimed to the right edge of the trees, any farther over and you will find them too tall. You can clear these lower trees without a problem and add in the downward slope of the fairway you come up with a 319y drive. I then had a 113y with a 37.3ft drop approach to the pin. It just seemed right so I took a lw with a lower adjustment in trajectory to within feet of the club, a fun birdie.
18th par 5, 504y a large patch of rough filled with wild grass divides the fairway, something you don't want to end up hitting into. I still used a full drive to the left center corner of the first fairway, you don't want to go too far left you may not clear the sparse looking trees on your left. After a successful 283y drive I had only 209y to the flag. An unadjusted 3 iron put me again within feet of the cup, my luck is good today. Now you can play with the tricky green. A massive clubhouse is in view with a large tent like object to it's left, your right. This impressive looking clubhouse looked fine and clear to me but the 'tent' was a blinding white and was strobing not unlike a cheap tie on a TV newsman at a news station in some small town. My card is an ATI Radeon DDR 64mb and has served me well so far.
A real course that plays exceptionally well doesn't come along that often. This is that one time. The hazards weren't a problem the changes of elevation, fairway challenges, unusual shaped holes, interesting greens and much more made this a course to enjoy. The beauty of the course was surpassed by it's playability and the combination of the two made this a must download. Being only 18.4mb is a huge plus for a dialup user so if you are looking for a very enjoyable round of golf and for a keeper this is it.
